I also have not been on JM since my daughter was born, and I realized we needed a "3/10" birth date to fill in with the other recent posts, so here goes...
When my son was born 2 years ago, he was born 4 days before his due date, and I had often heard children after your first typically came sooner. Well....that's not true!!! For at least 2 weeks before I went in to labor I kept thinking it'd be any day, and she'd be at least a week or so early, and I was really excited about that. I was more than sick of being pregnant, as I'm sure you all know.
Every week at my appts I was still only 1 cm dilated, and no progress - . After my last appt, I literally got in my car and CRIED . I was miserable. That was Thursday - 5 days before my due date (3/12).
Friday, I went to work. Saturday, I walked, cleaned the house, stayed active, went to dinner at my parents, still nothing.
Saturday night / Sunday morning was daylight savings. Before leaving my parents house, they joked that I better not go in to labor tonight because we won't know for sure what time she's born!
Sure as sh*t, don't I wake up in the middle of the night because of contractions!!!!!!!
I went to the bathroom, had the wonderful bloody yuckiness, and started timing my contractions. Because my labor with my son was so fast (2-1/2 hours), and he was so big (9lbs, 11 ozs - 21-1/2" long), all through my pregnancy my doctors told me as soon as I start having contractions - get to the hospital, don't wait.
Right away my contractions were 3 minutes apart, they came on quick. So, I woke my husband up, and called my parents to meet us at the hospital - they were keeping our son for us. This was exactly 2:00 in the morning - time change!!!!!
My next call - eleven minutes later at "3:11" - was to the on-call doctor to let them know I was on my way in and have a history of fast labors.
I got to the hospital at 3:30 and was 5 cms dilated. Got all hooked up to the monitors and started the questioning process. I immediately told the nurse I wanted an epidural. I had my son naturally, had a great experience, but really didn't want to do that again! So they ordered it.
Epidural was in around 5:30 - boy what a weird feeling that was! I felt like I had legs of an elephant, but ohh was it nice!!!! They broke my water - - and then we waited a little bit. My contractions stayed the same, didn't really pick up like they had hoped, so around 6:30 they started a little Potocin to kick start them.
At 7:00 I felt the urge to push. 2 pushes and 8 minutes later Mya was out!!
The doctors all thought she wasn't going to be nearly as big as her brother was, but boy did she have them fooled! Mya was a beautiful, healthy 9 lbs, 6 ozs - 20-1/2" long with a full head of dark hair!
I was again blessed with an awesome / trouble-free conception, pregnancy, labor, delivery, and healthy baby! Words can't explain how fortunate and grateful I am for the family I have been given!
