For us it was definitely a mobile. I bought the motor, handmade the little characters to hang off of it.. and then kid didn't even sleep in a crib til she was a year and would just reach up and yank it down lol

Our pack and play ended up becoming the changing table. My Moby wrap was a waste because after a certain weight it no longer held my son.

I think the Bassinet, it was a really nice expensive one and he wouldn't sleep in it. I sold it quickly.

I had a wrap around nursing pillow. Hated it! I was given a boppy for my third and it was a lifesaver as he was a fast growing baby and very heavy.
The crib ended up being a bad purchase. I can't sleep unless my baby is next to me, so they never slept there. During naps I keep baby by me downstairs. I made such a cute crib set too, so I guess that was a waste of time and money!
The first sling I bought had padded rails and was too big being standard size. I'm 5' 6" and average build. I made myself a fully adjustable gauze sling and that was much better!

A crib. For the first 6 months or so it was where we plopped her to let her look at toys, and then when she got too big for the changing table it became a diaper changing station. I finally packed it away when she was around a year old. It had never been slept in. (Well, not by the baby - the cats napped in there sometimes.) I'm just glad the only things we bought for the crib were a mattress and like one sheet, so it could have been a lot worse!

A lot of people regret buying a wipe warmer but I loved mine! My son was a November baby and he hated cold wipes! The wipe warmer was a life saver. I used it with my daughter too even though she was born in the spring.
The only thing that was a waste was the diaper genie but I did use it for a little bit.

A change table. Whenever we've had one they've primarily been used to store junk on!

We didn't really buy a lot of 'extras' for DS #1, because we knew we were about to move a few months after he was born. Never bought a crib or anything like that, so there was not much to regret! With DS #2, I really regret buying the Moby Wrap. He HATED that thing and would scream the second we tried to put him in it. The Baby Bjorn worked much better.

I was super lucky and almost everything was gifted to me. We actually didn't use much, the waste of space items were: crib, bumbo, mamaroo, pack n play, bouncy chair, bassinet; those are the bigger/expensive ones, my baby just didn't care for anything.

The pack and play did not serve a lot. We kept it on the main floor for ds to nap in it but he hated it and would not sleep in it. It's so big and took so much room in our dining room.
I didn't use my diaper bag either. I bought i nice jj cole bag and ended up throwing all the baby stuff in my large purse (I love big bags!). I found that I was overbundened leaving the house with both a purse and a diaper bag. So for this baby, I will spoil myself to a new oversized purse.

Reading the responses here is so interesting!! It's funny to see what was wasted for some and how much others loved them! The swing and the moby wrap were both invaluable they helped us so much!! Both of my children loved them!! The moby wrap is the only way I could go on a big grocery shopping trip after I had 2 kids because those dang infant carseats take up the whole cart! I'd put my daughter in the front of the cart and stick the baby in the moby and we could shop til we dropped!
