UGH! I've been awake since 2:30 am dealing with water in our basement. We've had a lot of rain in the past few days, but the 2 sump pumps we have just couldn't keep up. Our 2.5 year old woke up because of thunder and lightening, so hubby decided to go check the basement and there was water, up to 4 inches in parts! Around 6 am he got 2 "small" pumps that together can pump out 1500 gallons per hour, but after a few hours we still hadn't made any progress-it was coming in just as fast! So he went back and got another one that can do 4400 gallons per hour and we finally made progress! Our yard looks like a swamp and our road is closed in both directions. He said the 2 creeks on opposite sides of the road are now joined from overflowing.
A couple of the local school districts closed, but ours stayed open. I kept my son home though since he was up during the night when our other son was up from being sick and I didn't even know how the bus would get him with the road techinically being closed(hubby had to CAREFULLY drive thru the flooded part).
Ugh sounds like a really rough night (and day). I'm sorry you've having to go through that and I hope you're able to get your basement dried up soon!and that it stays dry!
We're getting snow and ice again today. I'm leaving work in 5 minutes to go pick up my son from school that is closing early due to weather and I heard the roads are like an ice rink outside. Fun, fun!
