Got to meet my new Dr- he is AWESOME. My better half was able to come as well and he likes to be as informed as possible on ANY subject- so this being his first baby, he had questions, lol. We talked with him for over an hour, most drs make you wait forever and then try to rush you in and out! So we both really liked him right away. I thought I was getting an u/s but he said he would do one at my next visit, when I explained I'd had some spotting this wknd and was concerned- he said no prob, we will do one today!
First, when he was checking me manually, I got nervous because he said my uterus felt larger than 6w- afterward he said it was probably because my uterus is tipped way back (drs have been telling me that since my 1st baby) so I tend to pop earlier than most- explains why I show so early! I have slightly shorter than average cycles, so by O date I was thinking I was 6w 2d yesterday. But going by LMP- I was only 6w exactly, so I didn't have high hopes of seeing much, let alone a HB. Not only were we able to see it, we were able to hear it!! It sounded kind of slow- but when it first starts beating it will be slower, my Dr (& Dr Google) said whats most important at this stage is seeing the presence of a heartbeat. Baby CRL measured 2.6mm (5w 6d) so I am basically right on track with my LMP date and they are keeping my EDD 11/11. Everything looks perfect, no sign of a bleed at all. He printed us out 2 pictures- I don't have my scanner hooked up so I haven't scanned them. I feel so much better now that I have seen a little HB, and so early on!! I go back at 10 wks for my next check up and another ultrasound. Can't wait!!
Thanks ladies! Yes it was WONDERFUL to see and hear the HB this early- I was prepared to see a sac and that was it! & He really is a very cool DR. He heard my history and thinks I could VBAC if I wanted to- but told me he is good with whatever I decide as long as I am comfortable. I want a repeat C- but it was good to know he is open and doesn't have an agenda he wants to push on me. Plus I was nervous because I have never seen a male OB before but he is fantastic- totally set me at ease- I am so glad my friend recommended him!
What a fantastic appt! Congrats on the h/b! Yes, I have always preferred male ob's too, my first ob 25yrs ago was a female and she was abrubt and rough! My ob rocks! Glad your comfortable, that is the most important!
