This was eggs-tremely tricky to calculate, lol. As I'm sure you can imagine. I had to list the words in a Word document as I collected to keep track of them, and if I've made any mistakes, I hope you will forgive me! If you find a mistake (if you think I've missed out a valid word you entered, or if you see a repeat in the list below) please let me know. However, please read the below IN FULL first.
First of all, I repeat, the game was to find words in which you could substitute the word EGGS for a portion of the word. Words containing ex, egs, ecc, and in one case, ecz, for eggs-ample.
I have NOT counted points for entries where you have instead substituted the word EGG for a portion of the word (ie in words containing eg, ec or egg). There were also quite a few where people had substituted EGG for an a sound in a word, again I have not counted these. There was also one where the actual sound substituted for was aggs rather than eggs and I have also not allowed this.
I have counted all unique words, including those derived from the same root words already entered. So for eggs-ample, eggs-ample and eggs-emplify counted as two different words, as did eggs-tatic and eggs-tacy.
I have disregarded spelling errors, including putting EGG where you meant EGGS, provided the word originally had the EGGS sound ie ex, egs, ecc, or ecz - so you won't have lost points for spelling.
I checked and double-checked words where I had the slightest inkling it might be a repeat, but as I say, PLEASE check this.
Between you wonderful ladies, you have come up with the following rather eggs-haustive list of permitted, unique EGGS words:
SpankyMagoo, elizabethchallis, suziequep and Txmom4, you especially rocked this challenge. You ladies even had me looking words up on Google to check they were really words, and I've got an English degree!
Don't get discouraged if your team didn't amass quite as many points as others in this challenge. The Easter quiz for over the weekend potentially holds 60 points per team - 20 points per person - if you answer ALL the questions and get them ALL correct.
Phew! I'm eggs-hausted. And I still have a bunch of challenges to collect points from!
