Ok so this is probably a little random but I saw a post last night that said to count back 14 days from your first positive and that is approx the day of conception. I looked at my chart and that would put me around February 5... DH and I BD'd the day before, but I did not get a positive OPK until February 9... We BD' d the day before and after that (maybe day of but I don't have it in ff). I had bad aching/pain on my left side during Mass on that Sunday the 10th And it lasted most of the service. Anyway, I got my first verrrrry faint BFP on February 19.

Is that counting two weeks back a certainty? Or is it likely I ovulated the 9-10, conceived and implanted early and got an early BFP? I did use the dollar general brand of pg test which I think measures low. I took a digi the day before and got a negative. Anyway, I feel like I look further along than I am, and the count back 14 days thing freaked me out a little, as February 5 was 3 days after my last period.

Anyway can anyone help me with this?

ovulation is aprroximately 7 days after your LMP....so conception would be around there...so if feb 13 was your lmp add 7 so feb 20 and 2 weeks after that you get a BFP

no biggie I was just doing an example so 7 days past Jan 30 is Feb 6 so somewhere around there should have been conception so your dates are about right...plus an egg can pop at any time..even during your period...

Like I said eggs can pop whenever they want so it's possible you ovulated late...also some women's HCG is low level for the first few weeks...it took me until I was 6 weeks with my first to get a BFP

It's all just a guideline! Everyone's body is different. I have always heard that 14 day rule is going off a woman who has a "normal" cycle with 28 days, but cycles can vary so much!!

Actually you ovulated fairly early. Sounds like you O'd around 2/10 (if your bfp the opk was on the 9th). And you recieved a nice early bfp at around 9dpo! 9dpo is very common to get a faint early bfp (I got it at 9dpo with 3 of my kids that were monitored, this one was 8dpo). So yes, you conceived most likely around the 10th.

the 14 day rule only applies if you are only going off of lmp. But this is a very rough estimate, as most women who do not use opks or chart have no idea when they dropped their egg.

Go by the OPK. The counting method is just a general guesstimate if you're not sure.

I agree! Go with the OPK. That's what I'm doing! Most women TTC have a stronger clue to what is going on then the average cycle.

Going by when my OB said I conceived was exactly 21 days from my LMP. My cycle started the 24th of Jan and ended the 28th. He said I conceived around the 15th of Feb and I got a positive on Feb 27th. I thought I was pretty regular but I guess I was wrong. Seems I'm very odd lol

Everyone is different- most women with a "normal" cycle O anywhere between days 10&14- but some are earlier or later. I would go with the day you got your first faint pos and count back 10-11 days. That is most likely the day you ovulated. My DF thought we conceived 2/13, but I knew based on when I had O pain it was the 17th- sure enough I didn't start getting positives til 2/27- 10 or 11 dpo. If I had conceived on the 13th I would've expected at least a faint positive by the 24th. My u/s confirmed I was right where I thought I was.

The 14 days is your luteal phase of your cycle. Here's a link with more info.Menstrual Cycle: Biology of the Female Reproductive System: Merck Manual Home Edition

But yes everyone is different. I typically ovulate day 16 or 17 and have a consistent 14 day luteal phase. In your case go with your pos opk date since you know that. I too got an early Bfp at 10 dpo using 1st response which has one the lowest hcg testing levels. There some others out there that test at 15 mlu.
