This morning I started having bright red AF like bleeding- as well as passed a small clot. Put a call in to my DRs office immediately and they had me come in for an ultrasound right away. I was prepared for the worst because I've had 2 previous losses, so it's always on my mind. I also had hope because we saw the heartbeat at 6w, and I experienced the same AF like bleeding all through my first trimester with YDD. Of course, that doesn't make it any less frightening. Also- we DTD last night- so I felt slightly guilty, like I caused it.

They did an abdominal u/s and right away dr found the baby with a heartbeat of 145, measuring 7w (I'm 7w 2d by LMP) and said the pregnancy is still viable. The baby is at the top of my uterus and the bleeding was visible near the bottom, but my cervix is closed and firm. He didn't call it a SCH and they never did with my daughter- just said it is unexplained and nothing else can do but wait and rest. So that is what I will do. My next appt is 4/11. I really hope our little one stays put.

Many positive thoughts and prayers to your little bean! Im sure that was so frightening and Im sorry you had to go through that. Im so happy they found the heartbeat right away! Hopefully the bleeding will stay away and Im glad you are going to try to rest and take it easy.

Did you tell your doc you and DH DTD the night before? Did he say anything about that?

Thanks Lindz- I did tell him we DTD last nite when I asked him if I should be on pelvic rest too (I was going to put myself on it anyway) he said that's probably not the cause, but to avoid it for the time being.

The weird thing is if I weren't pregnant, AF would be due tomorrow. It was like that with the bleeding with my YDD, too. Get this- my Mom had her "period" (irregularly) all through her pregnancy with me- she didn't even realize she was pregnant til 5 months along when she felt me kicking. So I kind of wonder if it is genetic or something and maybe has something to do with that. I just don't get it.

Im so sorry for your scare, but soooo glad everything is ok. I know its probable of no comfort, but many people bleed thoughout their pregnancy and everything is ok. I bled, woke up one day to blood all in my pants. I was terrified and I was around 10 weeks. I had a SCH, so I had a reason for the bleeding. I am sure that it must be terrifying not knowing why. hang in there and I will be praying for you.

I'm sorry you had to experience it too, but it is a bit comforting to know it can be normal, thats the only reason I am not totally devastated right now- my DD is living proof you can bleed a lot in pregnancy and still have a healthy baby in the end.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, girls.

Well genetics play a large role in what we women experience so you may just be like your mom. And that thought should lift your fears somewhat. The baby is in there and it sounds like it's pretty sticky. I pray it stays that way for you.

I am hoping and praying everything is ok with your little one. I tested positive on what would have been 10dpo and then started spotting at around 13-14 dpo. I was totally freaked out and bummed. My nurse told me that sometimes your body will spot a little when your AF might have came, and then eventually it will get the message. I spotted for 3 days and then it was gone. They told me it could have been a break-thru AF or implantation. After I saw two babies, I figured one of them had to have caused me to spot when attaching.

Sending you positive thoughts.

My grandma had a period every month while pg with her first. She didn't know she shouldn't have! It sounds like that's what you are doing. It sounds genetic in your family. I hope its short lived so you can relax.

DTD can cause bleeding too. I burst a capillarity in the first trimester with my first. It was a lot of blood, but stopped quickly. Terrified my DH that he hurt the baby!

Sounds like its a sch of some sort. I had one with my last pregnancy that was not detected until the 8th wk, although I had spotting from wk5. Sometimes they hide in there for a while, especially the smaller ones. I have one again this time, small again, that causes nice bright red bleeding (spotting) which turns to brown for a couple of days......then repeats itself at least once a week. They suck for sure, but typically are harmless!
