Went well overall, babyís HR was 145 and my BP was good (I donít remember what it was). I had never met this doctor before, but my normal one is on vacation so he had to do. He did the GBS and that was a bit painful but Iím glad itís out of the way. He also checked internally and I am not dilated but I am 25% effaced. He said the baby is at station -2 and has not dropped yet, which is good to know because I havenít been sure if he did or not. He is head down woo hoo! I am hoping he stays that way. The doc measured my fundal height and said Iím measuring at 38 weeks, 2 weeks ahead, and that we will *still try* for a vaginal birth. It makes me a little nervous because I donít want to be induced or have a c-section. Letís just hope he comes naturally and isnít too big to push out
I asked about the ridiculous cholesterol number I got about a month ago and he said pregnant women should not be tested for cholesterol because pregnancy throws it off (thatís a relief), but we will check it again post partum just to be sure.
I inquired about birth control and he said it is routine for the hospital to set you up with some sort of birth control before you leave the hospital after the birth. That makes me feel much better; we donít need another baby right away.
I went and got my blood drawn for another CBC to check my iron levels, fingers crossed they have risen since I have been on iron supplements for two months now. I also had to go bug the immunizations clinic about my TDAP because they were supposed to give it to me 4 weeks ago when I asked about it. They said I already had my booster a few years ago so I didnít need it, but come to find out we DO need it during EVERY pregnancy. So I got that and now my arm hurts!
He said come back in 2 weeks for my next check up if I donít have the baby by then I canít believe thatís an option! Itís crazy how close we all are!
Sorry for the novel, but I wanted to talk about all the stuff I learned and did today!
My OB said to see him in two weeks as well that would make me 37 weeks.
Also commented if anything happens by then I know where to go.. so we are here .. I guess it can happen anytime.. I rather it be closer to my due date then in the next two weeks.. its Gods plan
