Contractions started 9/18 around 3pm. They were about every 7 minutes apart, but inconsistent. I continued having contractions until about 11pm and then they fizzled out. They started back up again around 4am, every 3-5 minutes apart. We decided to leave for the hospital around 7:30a, stopping to get breakfast. We went into the hospital 8a with contractions every 3 minutes, but not painful. They hooked me up to monitors and confirmed contractions. They called the doc to check my cervix. The doctor came at 9am and said I was only 1cm. They also checked my blood pressure and it was high around150/80. I also had protein in my urine. They continued to monitor my blood pressure every 15 minutes. At 10:30 they checked me again and was only 1-2cm and 50% effaced. They admitted me for my blood pressure and decided to induce me. I was moved to a room and the nurse tried to start an IV. She tried twice, both blew, so she called in another nurse. The 2nd nurse got an IV right away. Pitocin was started at 12pm. I was still very comfortable at that point. At 3pm the doc came to check me again and I was 2. They continue to increase the Pitocin. Then at 5pm, he checked me again and I was 3-4cm so he broke my water. The contractions picked up big time. They were back to back so I opted for an epi. At 6pm I finally got the epi. I was able to relax a bit and take a little nap. At 7 pm the doctor checked me again. I was 4cm and 100% effaced. The doctor came back again at 9pm to check me and I was 7-8cm. I was having pressure, but not a ton. Maybe 30 minutes I was ready to push! (My last pregnancy it took me 6 hours to go from 8 to 10cm, so I wasn't expecting quick progress.). At 9:50pm I finally started pushing. The doctor waited nearby and I was waiting for to suit up so I knew we were close. I pushed til 10:30 when Kadyn was finally born!!! I was able to hold her right away which was so awesome!! Kadyn Helen was born 09.19.13 @ 10:30pm. She weighed 8lb 7oz and was 20.75 inches long. Her head was 14".
