Lilyann Lei was born on 29 Sep 13 @ 0558! Her birth story begins on Thursday, 26 Sep when I went to my OB and had my membranes stripped. I was 2 cm dialated and about 50%. That day, I started losing my mucous plug. During the next couple days, I did a lot of walking (went grocery shopping on Friday - took the day off of work) then on Saturday, took DD 14 shopping at the mall and walked for almost 4 hours. I had also started drinking RRLT those last few days (make 3 cups with 4 tea bags). DH and I had some alone time Saturday night, and I went to bed around midnight. At 1 am, I still wasn't sleeping, but felt a painful contraction (mind you, I thought my BH were a bit painful - NOTHING compared to real contractions). I was shocked when the next one came very soon after. I got out my phone and times a couple contractions that were 4 mins apart and 45 sec long. They HURT!! I got up, and decided to take a bath. That didn't last long as I started to feel very sick, like I wanted to throw up. I got out of the tub, and started timing conx again. Now they were 2.5 mins apart and it was almost 3 am. I knew this was it, and woke DH up. Then I ran to the bathroom as I had to get sick. Having conx and throwing up is horrible! I was in so much pain already, I didn't have a chance to ease into the conx, they were coming so fast. I called my doc and asked her what I should do (duh!) and she said "conx coming every 2.5 mins with you sounding like that-get to the hospital now!) DH woke up DD14 and DS12, and told them it was time to go. I got dressed in stretchy pants and a tank top, and although it was in the 50's outside, I was sweating and irritated. We let my mom know we were leaving and thankfully my DS4 didn't wake up. It only took us a couple mins to get to the hospital, and oh man, the conx were right on top of each other. I think at this time, it was about 3:45 am. DH dropped us off and DD14 had to call to security to get us into the lobby of the hospital. The security guard opened the door and got me a wheel chair. A nurse showed up, but the security guard insisted on wheeling me to L&D. Looking back, it was comical how fast he went. He left the nurse and my kids in the dust!! I think he didn't want to deliver my baby in the hallway! lol My doc had already called me in, so they had a room ready (no triage). I painfully made my way to the bed and got checked by the nurse. I was at 5 cm. I knew I would go fast, but decided I still wanted an epidural (seriously, best choice I could have made). The nurse said we had to get an IV in first, and proceeded to blow out my vein because my arms were so cold that she couldn't find it. They got some warming blankets on my other arm, but that make me so freakin' hot! Finally another nurse came in and got the IV in and said they needed a half bag before I could get the epidural. I was so irritated and hot and in so much pain. I knew I could do it, but with the kids in the room, I knew I wanted the experience to be more pleasant for all of us. Not too long after, the anesthesiologist came in, made the kids leave for a bit, and performed the epidural. Within minutes, I was myself again. They let the kids back in, I was pleasant and joking with the nurses, it was great. My doc came in and checked me and I was at a 9. This was probably around 5:30am. She broke my water, and knowing my history, started getting everything ready. Sure enough, I was at a 10 in no time. Lily wasn't engaged yet so she wanted to do a couple practice pushes. They were no necessary! I'm a good pusher *smile* so by the time I pushed 3 times with that conx, her head was crowning! I pushed one more time with the next conx and she was out! 5:58 am! While I was joking around with the kids, we made bets on how big she would be. So when she came out, and had the chunkiest cheeks, the doc said "oh, she is big! I guess low 8's" Once she was on my chest for awhile, they took her to get weighted and she was only 7lbs 9.5 ox. Her doc laughed and said that her cheeks made her look so much bigger! lol My DD14 won, she guessed 7.9!! Another funny story is that my DS4 guessed she would be a girl, and also guessed her birthdate! My kids have good guesses!! I wanted to get this typed out, and want to save before I lose it, but will attach some pictures soon! We love her so much, she is perfect!
