if you're checking this thread out, chances are you're looking for a way to get rid of the nasty nastiness that is morning sickness.. although, MORNING sickness can technically strike at any time of the day.. morning, noon, evening.. or 24/7!
Here are some common remedies for helping to relieve morning... er... PREGNANCY sickness
eat plain and dry food before getting out of bed in the morning (crackers are a great idea)
eat lots of protein (nuts, eggs, meat etc)
eat small & often - your 3 main meals a day may become 6 mini-main-meals a day
if you have trouble keeping food down at meal times, try eating something salty before hand
don't drink while you eat
if your nausea is associated with the smell of food, try eating COLD food - it smells less!
garlic, onion, acidic fruits & vegetables are common foods that tend to not agree with pregnant women
heat can cause nausea, so try to stay in cooler rooms
tiredness can also cause morning sickness, so try to nap during the day
cook in a well ventilated room, so the smells don't linger
try to sleep with a window open, to keep your bedroom ventilated (obviously this is more for summer)
stress can increase the physical symptoms of morning sickness
if you're having trouble keeping your prenatals down, try taking them later in the day
ginger is a long used remedy - ginger in capsule form - 3x 250mg a day, sucking on ginger lozenges/candy, chew crystalised ginger, drink ginger ale/ginger lemonade/ginger tea
peppermint tea is great for a yucky tummy
accupressure works for some women
*IF your morning sickness is making you miserable &/or you can't keep anything down, talk to your doctor about potential medical remedies (such as Zofran)
***** check with your doctor before taking any herbal morning sickness supplements
