Mine isn't until July 1st. So far away. I'll be almost 10 weeks along. But I had to wait and make it after my insurance coverage started which is.... of course July 1st.

I know, must be confusing. I'm going to try to dabble in both DDC's since I'm so close to the end of January.

I looked around online and found two midwives who practice in my county. I'll call them next week probably. We just moved to CA last year and I haven't found a doctor here yet. Since I don't want make an announcement until at least 12 weeks I don't really want to start asking people for recommendations on what OB's are good. I think they'd be suspicious . Hopefully one of the midwives will be able to take me as a patient or at least recommend a good OB.

I just put in an online request for my first OB appt... last time they had me wait until 8 weeks, but since it ended up a m/c, they told me next time they'd see me earlier. He assured me it wasn't because of higher risk, but he said he knows it's just kinda stressful coming off of that, so he wants to reassure me. I don't mind being reassured!

Not sure when I'll get in, but I'm so glad I won't have to wait 5 more weeks!

This is kind of a subject for me.....my family doctor, who is wonderful, delivers, who I would love to have. But I really like the care that midwives give.....the fact that they will come to my house after the baby is born, and I wont have to wait in an office for 2 hrs with sick ppl coughing on my baby.....they spend more time with you ect....the benefits go on......so i will make my initial appt with my doc then maybe feel her out.....I dont want to step on her toes.....and I work with her all the time too.....

Congrats, Ashley!
I am taking my time trying to decide between a midwife & an OB. I want to make sure I make the right decision instead of rushing into this. Chances are I'm going to choose an OB though because the birthing center near me probably charges you one flat fee for all your visits and the delivery, and chances are I am going to be delivering this baby 14 hours away from here after we move in December to NC from NH. I'm really stressing out about this whole situation, actually. We wanted another baby, but we were planning to wait a few more months to get pregnant so that we would already be down there before I lost the ability to see my toes!

When I first found out I was pregnant with DD I didn't have an OB lined up. And I wasn't ready to tell every one. When I asked my friends for references I told them that I was due for my papsmear and that I didn't want to go to any old dr for it. If you're looking for excuses its a great one! Plus if you want to throw them off, ask them if they like their current birth control. They'll probably jump to the wrong conclusion and assume you're preventing
