My 3 1/2 year old Leila will be having surgery tomorrow. She is having her tonsils and adenoids removed. This momma is a nervous wreck!! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Any BTDT moms have any advice for me on what worked for your LO or you for having this type of surgery?

So sorry. Praying it goes smoothly. I had my adenoids removed when I was little. Cool or soft foods like ice cream or jello helped.

((HUGS)) My DD had hers removed last year. She was in a lot of pain the first day or two, and the liquid pain meds they gave us burned going down. I felt horrible every time I had to give them to her! She really wasn't interested in eating anything for about a week, which our Dr told us was normal. I just kept offering her a variety of things, at a variety of different temps (yogurt, pudding, ice cream, freezie pops, jello, mashed potatos) Overall, the recovery was about a week and a half and she was back to her old self again!

I had it done about a year ago, lots of cool liquidy stuff for the throat. And warm also will help. Ice cream, popsicles, juice, smoothies, etc...

She did so well!!! So long as we stay caught up on the pain meds she seems really pretty ok. She is definitely still not herself but obviously no one would be! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and warm wishes!

I had mine out in the 6th grade and the longer you wait the more painful it gets! I don't remember anything much helping (just typical cold stuff like ice cream and popsicles).

On the other hand, my sister was 3 when she had hers out and she came out of surgery wanting to eat cookies lol, so maybe your LO won't hurt as bad as it sounds like it should hurt.
