I was just wondering, do maternity pants last for the whole pregnancy, or do you have to keep buying new ones?

My current jeans are getting snug. While they're ok while I'm standing, with some things I do at work, they really dig in.

I'm specifically thinking about the ones that have the full band that go all the way over the belly. I'm wondering if those kind stretch as you get bigger, or will only stretch to a certain point? (or are those not even the best kind to get?)

I'd like to be more comfortable, but not if it means buying jeans now and then having to replace them!

I think it depends on you. If your body grows a lot then you might need a bigger size. And there are different types-- like no belly panel and a belly panel and maybe even a half belly panel? Anyhow, as you get bigger your taste might change. I prefer having fabric on my belly so i like the belly panel but some people are bothered by it the bigger they get.

Mine last the whole pregnancy...

My first pregnancy I had to buy a bigger size because I got big. This time I just got the bigger size and I will grow into them. I don't want to buy anymore jeans because this is my last but I will see.

It all depends on how you gain weight. If you stay your size and only gain belly then you should be fine. Me...I gained EVERYWHERE with Elizabeth and had to buy bigger half way through.

I would say go ahead and buy now. Even if you do end up outgrowing them, it probably won't be until the very end, so you will have to have some before then - it might as well be now! And in my experience, the full panel ones lasted longer for me than the others. The panel helps kind of hold them up at the end, if that makes sense.

I highly recommend the secret fit belly band pants from Motherhood maternity. If you get the secret fit band, it stretches MUCH more than the regular fabric bands on the other maternity pants. I ended up having to buy a few pairs of bigger pants towards the end of my pregnancy because my hips got bigger, and I carried really low, so that didn't help either. If you carry higher up, you usually won't go up in pant size quite as much.

Thanks for the advice

I figured that how big you get/where you gain weight would play a part. I just didn't know beyond that if they were something that people outgrew every 2 months or could possibly last the whole pregnancy.

I definitely prefer the idea of full panel, they just look like they'd be more comfortable.

I think I'll definitely buy some this week. The snugness mainly just comes from bloat for me right now, but having some maternity jeans would beat having to undo my pants every time I get in the car to go home from work, haha.

I get huge in my pregnancies and end up having to move up in maternity sizes toward the end.

And I, too, love Motherhood's Secret Fit or whatever that's called. I recently bought two pairs of shorts with the Secret Fit waist band and they are insanely comfortable. I know they won't fit me by the end of pregnancy, but I figure by then it will be November/December and hopefully the weather will be cool enough that I'll be in mostly in long pants, anyway.

Yeah they typically are supposed to last to the end. Maybe just don't buy super tight ones to begin with so they last.... I discovered a pea in the pod pants this pregnancy and I love em!! A little pricier but they have good sales and coupons...

Mine lasted the whole pregnancy. I can't stand those full belly panel jeans, at least not long, they drive me nuts in the beginning, and I think are uncomfortable at the end.

I suggest trying on a few different kinds before deciding. I thought I'd like the ones with the belly panel and got a few pair. They were itchy and uncomfortable for me, I ended up folding them down.

Mine fit the whole pregnancy.
