It's beautiful!

Is that were only one small part or no parts are real and the bride just has a sheet cake in the back? That is what my FSIL is planning for her wedding.

Thanks all!
brides/grooms choose a fake cake when they have like a dessert already served at their reception and don't want the extra cost of a WHOLE cake, but it still cost quite a bit, but not as expensive. The top later is usually real cake, for cutting(pic, ect)

That is what I thought. That's exactly what my FSIL is going to do. The one layer will be real for cutting and feeding each other but there will just be sheet cake for everyone else.

oooh I love it! We're doing a fake cake too. Our families don't eat cake but we want one for pics. I was thinking of making my own but I suck at fondant. I tried .. didn't turn out well. lol. Too bad you live so far away.. lol

love it love it. I've spend quite a stash of cash for fondant cake decorating. Then I find out that my state doesn't allow home bakeries. I was kinda hoping to have it it be a word of mouth fun thing that I could do while kids were in school, as it takes WAY too long (IMHO) to decorate cakes. But now with babe on the way, i'm not sure what to do. Can't imagine I'll have free time now!!!!
Trying to decide if I should start a biz just loaning out my supplies or just sell them while they are still brand new.
Do you usually decorate with frosting rather than fondant?

Thanks ladies!

took a few more pics today if you care to see.. thanks for looking!!!

Vicki,
Yes mostly buttercream. I'm a pastry chef/baker.. but work at a small bakery(I don't get to make cakes there though.. so I practice on my own time(and money!) in hopes of getting better..possibly getting more hours to do cakes at work or even get a cake job somewhere in the future. For me the thing is just buying tools slowly.. and practice.. practice.. practice right now

Thats just so beautiful! I had no idea about the fake wedding cakes that's a good idea if you need to save money or not waste money. When your kids are in school you could sell birthday cakes to the moms.
