I'm eating a steak right now, and usually I like it medium well, but due to the pregnancy, I am afraid to eat any meat with even the slightest bit of pink. Well done is too tough to me. I have a feeling I'm not about to enjoy this meal right now because I have GOT to cook all this pink away. Anybody else eat steak while pregnant? If so, how do you like it cooked?

Steak is safe as long as the outside surfaces are fully cooked. The outside is the part that grows bacteria. The inside should be fine. This is NOT true for ground beef, however!!! All ground beef needs to be cooked until there is no red left at all!

That being said, I don't eat steak. I just don't like it.

I want mine to moo ! Med Rare all the way...

But, I don't eat it that way when pregnant. I honestly don't eat it at all when pregnant because it doesn't sound good.

Medium here! And I agree with Marti that it's fine to eat as long as the outside is cooked but ground meat MUST be cooked thoroughly.

Really? We can still eat steaks med rare?! I understand the bacteria part, but I thought another reason to cook it thoroughly was to kill potential parasites?

We're planning on grilling steaks tonight and I was a little bummed that I couldn't enjoy it as my usual medium rare!!

Medium rare to medium. Usually start with medium rare and then make sure it isn't too rare looking for me to eat.
