Guess what just happened at my house!!!

BELLA TEE TEED IN THE POTTY ALL ON HER OWN! We have been keeping her naked for the past 4-5 days and have just been letting her feel the sensation of what it feels like when she needs to teetee, well today she has seemed to finally get it.

She brought me a diaper earlier today and was holding herself, and I told her that she was a big girl now and took her to the potty...well she didn't go, she peed on the floor a little later. Then a few hours later, I caught her holding herself (she knew she needed to go then too) and she went before I could get her to the potty. We still sat there and talk about "This is where we go teetee."

Well, DH and I were just sitting in the living room and she walked over to her potty. We just looked at eachother and was acting like we were "ignoring" her and then her potty song started playing!!! SHE DID IT! All on her own!! I'm such a proud mommy right now!

That's unbelievably awesome!!! You are well on your way to having at least one out of diapers!!! Congrats momma! Just a question, I was curious about the naked potty training and know several who do it. Do you have hardwood floors? If not how do you keep her from peeing and ruining the carpet? I'm interested in doing this with Marina when she's ready but wasn't to sure what to do about my carpet.

Yes. We have nothing but hardwood. But, when she has an "accident" it's not much. She usually starts to pee and then stops because there is no diaper there to catch it.

Congrats! That is fantastic.

Casey - we did naked potty training but mostly outside. We do have a lot of hardwood floors, but I thought Max would find the few rugs and pee there (and we did have one accident). But for the most part we brought a portable potty outside for the day and only let him inside for 20-30 minutes after he peed. This worked for us, but Max was already 3 so he trained very quickly (one day was enough and diapers at night for a couple months.) Pull ups are a big waste for during the day as they feel just like diapers so kids don't really treat them differently. Just a little easier for mommy/daddy to pull them up and off. We used them once to take him to a reward movie the weekend we were potty training.

Yay! That's awesome! I think the naked idea is great because they don't like the sensation of pee pee running down their legs. Of course I imagine that's a harder task with little boys though. LOL Hopefully Bella keeps up the great work and keeps going in her potty!

She just turned 20 months. I have heard boys are a lot harder.

Bella is pretty quick to pick up new things. She can watch me do something once and remember it forever. Every child is different and I think you will know when he is ready. If you don't feel like he is ready yet, than he probably isn't.

It was funny the 1st time I got the potty out..he took it apart..took off the lid, pulled off the boy guard, pulled out the potty cup.....then peed all over the floor beside it and he thought it was hilarious.

Well, she just peed all over the floor again. Oh well. We rushed to the potty anyways.

I don't know why she is peeing so much today...

Don't do it if you don't think he's ready! It will just lead to frustration for both of you. We waited until my son was 3 years 1 month before we really pushed it and it was so much easier than it would have been at 2. Also, boys generally do potty train later than girls.

She may be peeing more today because she's more aware of the sensation of, "I have to pee" rather than it just sort of happening like it does when they wear diapers. So she may be going as soon as she feels just a little twinge.
