Zaky Infant Pillow
$50

Zaky Infant Pillow

Quote:
The Zaky is designed to imitate the look and feel of a parent’s hand and forearm. Babies are used to the warm comfort and protection of their mother’s womb and the Zaky can help imitate that feeling as it provides similar support. It weighs approximately 1.2 pounds, but you can shift the filling to provide as much or as little weight on your baby. It was originally designed to comfort, support, and protect premature babies that had to be away from their mother in the hospital – but it is a great ergonomic pillow for all infants!

It has been shown encourage good sleep patterns and sound development, while providing a sense of protection. It is very flexible and can be positioned just right to fit the perfect position for your little one – over, under, or around your baby. Place it in the drier for a couple of minutes to warm it and give it a more realistic feel.
This product seems to get great reviews from parents of preemies. It was originally designed for preemies whose moms and dads couldn't stay with them in the NICU, but now it is marketed to full-term, healthy babies, as well. On their website, they recommend giving it as a shower gift.

Like the Peekaru, my problem with the Zaky is aesthetic, not functional. I get this product - especially for preemies, but sure, for full-term babies, too. In fact, didn't someone mention in another thread that they are oddly comforted by the heavy lead blankets you wear during dental x-rays? Solution: Grown-up Zaky.

But if I walked into the nursery to see disembodied Muppet hands caressing my baby's bum under pretty much any circumstances, I would grab the child and run screaming into the night.

Rate the creepy-a** Zaky!

My MIL and I saw one of these at a baby boutique when I was pregnant with DD. Three years later, we still talk about how much it freaked us out.

Aside from being creepy, i would be scared to let my baby sleep alone with this pillow. What if he/she shifts positions in their sleep and ends up unable to breathe? A big NO from me!

Mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,

Their house is a museum
Where people come to see 'em
They really are a scream

Nope. Good ol' American. Invented by a Texan woman whose son was premature.

I voted other because there were no NEGATIVE numbers to choose from! JM would just star out what I have to say about that, so I'll leave it to a H. E. Double Hockey Stick NO for this one. LOL

We do use these in the NICU, where babies are on monitors so we can see what they are doing at all times, it really is a good product for those prems who need a little extra cuddling that their Mommy's and Daddy's can't provide to them....or ones that don't have any parents for babes who are wards of the state....

HAving said that, would I use it at home? No. def. not necessary.
