I always find my peanut right above my pubic bone and to the left. Sometimes tho, s/he moves and I find it right below my bb. But it seems once I find it, I hear it for 30 seconds, and then it fades cuz baby decides to move. LOL S/he does not like dopplar probes.
MC- Sweet Pea, EDD 10/10/09, left us at 6 weeks. MMC-Baby Peapod, EDD 02/24/2011, left us at 8 weeks.
Do these vary in prices/brand at all? I noticed our children's consignment shop was selling several of these around $9. I wasn't sure if for $9 they would work, but maybe I should get one!! Are you guys glad you have one?

If this is the monitor I am thinking of that you can just buy at like Babies R Us, from what I heart, it is not useful AT ALL until you are like 30+ weeks. It isn't sensitive enough to pick anything up. I may be wrong, but I think that is the one I am thinking of. So, don't panic.
Worth every penny...especially if you plan on having more children. We were able to pick up the HB at 9wks. Typically (right now) we find it about 1.5 inches from my "hairline" , almost directly below my belly button, maybe slightly to my right.
