So BTDT moms, what do you recommend for the first few months for a (hopefully) breastfeeding mama? Where did baby sleep — crib, bassinet, cradle, with you in bed? We'll have a nursery setup, but I'll want baby nearby for late night feedings. I don't think I could have baby in bed — too scary.

I used a bassinet beside my bedside, was great. DD then moved into her own room after about 10 weeks I think it was. Then shortly after, into a crib. I couldn't sleep with my baby in my own bed either... too many horror stories and unnecessary smotherings reported. (Although those who do I respect your decision!)...

Our personal preference is co-sleeping, but it's not for everyone and there are safe and unsafe ways to do it.

Option 2 for us would be a Moses basket which also goes in bed with you.

Option 3 a bassinet or PnP next to the bed.

These are only my opinions and everyone has to find what works best for them.
Thank you Jaidynsmum!

DD was in a cradle for the first 3 months (we didn't even purchase her crib until then!). We tried having her in our room with us but after 1 truely aweful night we moved her to her nursery. She was still pretty close and I prefered nursing her in the rocking chair anyways, so it wasn't hard to have her in her own room.

It would have been nice having dd in the same room with us, but neither dh or I would have been able to sleep.

We cosleep, but I also like having a bassinet or pack-n-play by the bed. Usually the bassinet ends up having spare clothes, diapers and wipes for the middle of the night changes.

We had a cradle next to the bed for easy night time feedings. I didn't move the kids into their own rooms until about 3 months old.
