Morning Ladies,

So last night I had to go to the dentist urgently , I had mentioned a week or so ago about having gum issues ..... Well my middle lower gum was basically coming away and teeth had become loose in a matter of yesterday. Went to the dentist and she confirmed peridontal disease - which she has seen in lots of pregnant women. To cut a long story short I was there for an hour squezzing hubbys hand . I have a few things to follow for 10 days then back again to see if she can re-attach the gum. She cannot do anything more invasive until im half way in 2nd trimester. Lets hope I dont need dentures at this rate !

Heres the things she advised for pregnant women to avoid this nasty gum disease

1) Brush atleast three times a day with a soft brush
2) If gums become sore or bleeding rinse with salt water twice a day (or 3times daily)
3) Floss after everything you eat

I am off to the Drs today for my 12week scan and will ask her if what I have read on the internet is true about this disease being risk to the baby.... anyone else ever heard of this ?

Yeah good luck, I have pretty much given up brushing altogether due to 95% of the time throwing up when brushing
