Well not me really, the baby.

At the dr I got all kinds of magazines and stuff reading through I found an intresting article. It talked about mothers who sang to their baby, the same song every time, before they were born. And how after the baby was born when crying or upset, the mom singing this same song would calm the baby. I had already heard of this before, but now I'm really thinking about it!

So here is the question...what song would you sing??

I Haven't decided yet...lol

DH started singing Mason a spanish lullaby since the day he was born. Every time he sang it, DS would just go limp in his arms and stop crying (never failed). He still does the same thing and he is 2.5 now.

Well I wasnt in my moms belly when this happened but my dad use to sing me billy joel's piano man every single night over and over again til I fell asleep. When I was old enough to understand the words, he changed them to be more child friendly so still to this day I dont know the real words of the song but if I hear it, it automatically calms me down.

I love broadway so I think I may sing some wicked, or maybe some country. Right now I sing whatever is on the radio.

There was a similar study involving Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat. The study said that women who read the story to their children while they were in the womb were able to use it to calm their babies by reading it after they were born. Something about the cadence of the words makes it a lot like a song I suppose!

I have a few songs I love to sing.. My biggest it "Lullaby" by Dixie Chicks I sang to my DD " It won't be like this for long" by Darius Rucker as a baby and she would stop crying when she heard the song. She says now it is her and her daddies song. :-) Rascal Flatts " Red, White and Blue" because after she was born her daddy had to go away to war and I swear singing to her and my DS calms them down. Singing use to be my passion so I have always kind of sang to the kids when I was pregnant. David's was " Jesus take the wheel" by Carrie Underwood among other things.
