At my last prenatal appointment (about 4 wks ago) my OB told me she wanted me to be back up to my pre-pregnancy weight (128) at that time I was 8lbs less (120). I eat healthy and I eat a lot at the same time. For the past 2 weeks I have been freaking out that I'm not going to have gained the 8lbs my OB wants me to have gained. Its hard to try to weigh myself at home because my scale always weighs me way less than the one at the OB office. Any advice on gaining the weight or what I should do if when I go to my next appointment.

I've heard of OB's telling patients they are gaining too much weight but I lost 8lbs when I first got pregnant. I don't want to be told I have gained too much but i'm tired of hearing that I'm not gaining any or I'm still losing it.

As long as you're being healthy, I'd say there's not much else you can do. Just focus on keeping yourself and your growing baby healthy with a good diet and exercise and the rest will follow. Even if you aren't where your OB would like you to be, try not to stress it. Everyone's body is different and grows differently, and it doesn't always follow the weight gain "guidelines." Some OBs stress the weight when it's not THAT big a deal as long as you're doing your best to be healthy.

I agree, as long as you're taking in good nutrients you should be fine. The baby is a leach, it's going to get the nutrients it needs. Especially if you're eating fine now. I wouldn't be so concerned about having to gain exactly 8 pounds or more, just being healthy.

I only gained 15 lbs all together with DS and my ob said nothing, I didnt start gaining till like 20 something weeks. Ive gained more this time around but I started at 120 so shes not worried cuz im probably healthier now than before lol. let your body do its thing and drink a couple glasses of chocolate milk every day and maybe some oreos

To gain more quicker, you could eat junk food, but why would you want to do that??? That's not good for the baby, and all so you can weigh a particular number? Eating healthy is so much better, even if it means you gain less and more slowly. I'd say continue to do what you're doing and don't worry about the doctor.

I had a weight run-in with mine, so I'm not putting too much stock in what they say in that regard. The number is less important than the choices you make, but doctors get so wrapped up in the number.

As long as you are eating healthy and lots of small meals, I can't see the problem! I drink those similac mom shakes for extra calories and they taste okay! Maybe try those? I don't have a weight gain issue but I try to balance out my weight....actually I am on the 'too much gain' side...LOL

i'm sure you'll start gaining eventually. I only gained 22 lbs with my first and this one i've gained 3 so far (at 18 weeks today). I just gain slow and keep gaining til the end. Everyone is different. Just try and eat healthy and enjoy a treat from time to time!

See the thing is I've never been one to gain weight. I have always had a fast metabolism. Is it possible that that could cause me not to be gaining much weight even with the pregnancy? I do eat health small meal every 3 or 4 hours only because if I don't I feel sick and very lightheaded (I have low potassium).

With my twin pregnancy, I had to have over 100 grams of protein a day. Finally I just added a protein shake from the site Eat Right for Your Blood Type. You could maybe try adding a healthy protein shake. I avoided some of the ones you can buy in the store because of the sugar content and other ingredients I had to avoid like milk.

I am having the same problem as you. I lost 10 pounds in one week from morning sickness at 9-10 weeks... starting out at 125 pregnancy. When I went to my first OB appt at 14 weeks, I weighed 115.9. I just got back from my WIC appt and I am 117.4. So in 3 weeks, I have only gained 1 1/2 pounds? I thought we were supposed to be gaining that in a week or 2??? But then again... I started packing on pounds near the end of my last pregnancy. I think I gained 35 lbs altogether which was just the right amount since I started underweight.
