So, I use the doppler maybe once a week for less than a minute, and even back when I first started picking up a hb loud and clear, I could listen for maybe a few seconds and then there would be what I can only describe as a 'thud' and the baby would be an inch or so away - as though he moved away from the doppler intentionally b/c he didn't like it.

Anyway, for the past month, every time I have used it, it's almost constant noises. lol. So, I can't imagine what it could be besides movement. If my finger slips even a little on the wand, it makes a not-quite-similar thud. I have even picked up a growling stomach and a gas bubble before, and they sounding nothing like these super-loud and 10x more frequent than last month noises.

Anyone else picking up things like that? I really do think he's trying to get away from the doppler & if that's the case, I don't really want to use it anymore - I mean unless I was really worried & truly afraid something could be wrong and need that assurance.

Yeah! my bubba girl must boot the sides of the uterus as it makes a DEAFENING squelch of a noise when she does. I don't use the doppler anymore because I feel kicks all day long and I'm pretty sure that baby doesn't like it when I use the doppler, she gets all feisty and overactive!

Mine does the same thing when the midwife checks the hb. I had thought about getting a doppler but now I'm glad I didn't, as the baby very clearly dislikes and moves away from it.

Yeah, it was priceless for me in the first 14 weeks, when I would want to run to the ER with every little cramp. But now I feel a little more comfy and I think I'll leave the poor bean be from here on out. Though I kind of think it's sweet that he's already saying "Mum, I really don't like that. Mum, please stop. Mum, CUT IT OUT!" lol

Mine bounces all over the place when I use the doppler. I've quit using it as much because I feel bad bothering him/her.

I agree that it's movement. I always thought it was just moving away from the pressure of the wand.

I don't notice mine moving away, but I only use it for 30 seconds or so. Just used it 10 minutes ago, nice strong HB, found it right away. I'm sure it's fine if you only use it once in a while, I do it about once a week.
