I was looking over pictures of nurseries to get some ideas on the HGTV website (people can submit pictures of their own nurseries) and I saw one room with a crib that was a very unique color. Come to find out, the lady said she spray painted it to get the color she wanted. That's when a red flag came up for me...is spray paint really safe on a crib?? I love the idea of personalizing furniture but what do you ladies think? Unsafe or okay? I guess you could seal the spray paint, but it would still concern me.

I already bought a cherry crib, but want a white one. I'd be too paranoid to paint it, I think. Unless they came out with a paint called "Baby Safe" or something! lol

Lol! Well I'm thinking you could use a low VOC paint (which I don't thing spray paint is) but I'm just concerned when the baby is teething and starting to put their mouth on the bars...

Yeah, I probably wouldn't do it. Babies put their mouths on everything. I've seen mine pull themselves up on the side of the crib or pack and play and chew on the railing lots of times when they were teething.

I wouldn't suggest it either.

Then again, whatever the cribs are sealed with when you buy them that way would have to be safe to be approved. So, I supposed if you could put a factory standard paint job on it, it would be as safe as buying a pre-painted crib? Idk. I'd still be too paranoid. lol

I wouldnt... Cute idea but we all know that paint is going to chip and that is not what I would want my baby to get a mouth of when she tries to teeth on the crib.

You can buy 'safe paint' for babys stuff. She prob put that into an air compressor and sprayed. So totally fine
