I think I'm just going in and peeing in a cup and/or having blood drawn. I left a message with the office, so unless they call back and set one, there isn't a certain time I have to go. It's just an Rx for lab work I have to take in at some point today. So, I think I'll lay down for a while and if they haven't called by an hour after lunch or so, I'll just go in. But if I can get them to give me a time, so I can actually see my OB, I have so many questions for her that I'd rather not wait until my regular appointment on the 5th to ask.

I would request to speak with the doctor if you do go in. I know at my doctor even if it is just a quick visit because I had a pain here or there, I always see the doctor or at least have a chance to ask questions. Going in just for a lab is totally not worth it. I hope everything is well!!!

Now that I think about it, she probably won't have any of the answers I'm looking for. It would be like asking my eye doctor about my foot problems. I assume that's why they have to refer me to the specialist. You're right, though. It is a long drive just to pee in a cup- but it's not an option not to go. The ER dr said the labs can not wait until my next OB visit in 2 weeks, he wants them asap. Too bad I can't weasel an ultrasound out of them while I'm there, though. =/

Depending on what you need a specialist for, your OB and your specialist should be sharing information and coming up with a plan together on how to treat you with your condition and your pregnancy. Perhaps that's something you can talk to your OB about if your issues will effect your pregnancy and vice versa.

The situation isn't related to the pregnancy & there is no treatment available. The specialist is for long-term monitoring. I didn't explain any of that in this thread because I already had in a previous one.

Yes, I read all of that. However, if your situation can effect your pregnancy or the pregnancy can effect your situation in any way, the specialist and the OB would be sharing information. I have a friend with EDS (Ehlers Danos Syndrome) and another with Lupus. Both of them are pregnant. They have to both have special monitoring due to their conditions and even though neither condition is related to pregnancy, it effects their conditions. Anyway, it was just a thought that you might consider talking to your OB about.

Ok, I was thinking about this and now I am confused. On Saturday you posted
Quote:
I just hope baby and I both make it and that we get a lifetime together.
(see http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1...l#post24897558). I know you didn't post exactly what your situation is, but if you fear for your life and the baby's life, wouldn't your OB already know about your condition from the hospital? If your life and the baby's life is threatened by your condition, wouldn't they already be making special arrangements for you? I realize that you have already stated that there is no treatment for your condition, but if it is life threatening to you and/or your child, then they would be monitoring both of you. Did you not inform the hospital of who your OB is? Did they not forward your medical information to your OB? If so, then wouldn't she be able to answer your questions as far as how it will effect your pregnancy and your baby?

Thinking of you today. Hopefully you got everything done that you needed to and can have some rest.

Honestmomma- While I understand your questions she has stated that she is not ready to share the details of her situation with us and will when she is ready. It it were me I would be very overwhelmed and want to pull back a little with all of your questions. She was admitted for a pregnancy related reason so I imagine her OB knows what is going on and she also stated in the OP that she wanted to meet with her OB ASAP.

I didn't ask the OP to share the details of her situation. However, what you posted in the bolded is in conflict of what the OP posted here:

Then when I suggested that the specialist and the OB would be in communication, the OP responded with:

That's WHY I asked the questions I did. I never asked her to share what her condition is. Nor did I ask her to post the information she has already posted in the first place, seeking people's advice. I gave reasonable answers, but the OP's responses confused me.

To be honest, I am getting pretty tired of my posts being picked apart by other members of this board. I don't do that to any of you, and it's pretty crappy for people to continually do it to me. I shouldn't have to explain every single thought I have. No one else is expected to do it. I shouldn't have to either.
