I am pregnant with my 4th child. I have 3 boys, and this one is finally a little girl. My sister wants to throw me a baby shower, but many people would look down upon a shower for a 4th child. Even though I have nothing for a girl and all of our baby things were given away after my last one- he's 3 now- because we were "finished." Would you consider it in bad taste to have a shower for this baby?

i think every baby should have some sort of babyshower
im on my 3rd and my sister(s) told me dont even say anything about you not wanting to have one!
i dont expect people to spend alot of money on me but for all of us to be together to celebrate Hailey is what is most important!

I see nothing wrong with having one. Part of the point is to celebrate the baby

I don't think so either. I have 3 boys and if on Thursday I find out this one is a girl... well dh's cousin and sister are all planning on throwing me the biggest, pinkest baby shower around! LOL All I'll really need is clothes and a few basic things because I have the big stuff still.

I hope I can word this right, because I am feeling rather vague right now ...

I wouldn't feel any thing negative toward the shower or the person having the shower if it were their 4th child, but 1st girl! Not at all, I'd be happy to go and celebrate and give gifts for that!
But if it were me... personally, in your position, it's unlikely I'd have one.
Mainly due to the fact that I am uncomfortable with having one even for my first. This is my first 'shower' of any type, and it makes me uncomfortable inviting some one some where for the purpose of bringing me a gift.
I have always loved giving gifts, never a fan of recieving them

But take what I said in my first paragraph and apply it to your choice! Seriously. People love celebrating and spoiling friends/family (that's what I tell myself every time I am doubting having a shower )

Especially because this is your first girl, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it! Every baby deserves to be celebrated in some way!

I agree with everyone else. I kinda wish I could have a shower with this little one. It's been 10 years since we had DD so we have no girly stuff. It probably won't happen though. I had a shower with my first and that's it. It's kinda sad because I feel like every baby needs a celebration of some sort. They are all special whether it's your first or tenth child. I say go for it and have a great time!

Yeah I'm coming to terms with doing what i want with this baby, and asking for what I need, no matter what other people think...

You obviously are going to want some Girly things and this baby deserves everything special the other three got. Who cares what everyone else thinks...if they don't like it, they dont have to come!

My family did this for my aunt. Her fourth baby ended up being twins so they needed double of everything all of a sudden. We enjoyed giving them a shower, plus every baby should be celebrated in some way.

If you feel weird about the shower, you could always do a meet the baby afterwards? I think that's what we're going to do since I'm not comfortable having a shower (especially since I had one less than a year ago)

Nothing wrong with it at all. IF we were having another boy i'd insist on NOT having one, and in fact i don't especially want another one anyway since our kids are so close together, my last shower was just a year ago. BUT since we are having a girl, if someone wants to do something i guess i'll go along with it and just keep it to close family and friends. Nothing like the 40-50 person shower we had with Tyler. I think it is a-okay when its the opposite gender to have another shower, but i agree with the part about celebrating every baby too!

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. Especially since your having a girl after 3 boys.
