So I was reading the post about who would be on call at the hospital and there was a mention of someone other than the doctor "catching the baby."

Immediately, my mind went to an image of a dad standing there with a catcher's mitt waiting for the baby to be born. I know that once the shoulders are out, the baby comes out quickly, but using the word catching makes me think the baby is going to be launched across the room instead of being pushed out....I'm such a weirdo. I know. But you know it made you laugh

On a side note, I don't have a better term to substitute since technically catch is appropriate. Just had to share my weird thought. Blame it on a lack of sleep...or my off-beat personality.

I don't know, DH isn't much of an athlete, perhaps I should have a backup catcher?

LOL. My dad can't stand to see me in even the tiniest bit of pain. When I mad minor contractions and would crinkle my brow he would get a concerned look on his face and pace the room. I wouldn't be comfortable with my dad in the room, but even if I was he wouldn't be able to stand seeing me in that much pain.
