Today I have to start my first of weekly progesterone shots. I know many women have had this done, but I'm really scared about it. Not only have I heard they hurt, but I really pray there is no bad effect on baby. I also have to get my blood taken for the quad testing.
Other things I want checked at the appointment, I want to be checked for a uti, I have a feeling i have one. If it turns out that i do, I'm worried about doing the antibiotics along with a progesterone shot all at the same time. It seems like it would be too much. (I HATE medicine, I try to avoid it. I have not taken a single Tylenol or anything else this pregnancy, so the thought of 2 new things at once scares me.)
I also want to be checked for any vaginal infections. I have no symtpoms of one, but I have a history of infections with no symptoms and I'm very paranoid about it happening again.
I want my cervix checked too because of the pain ive been having. I want to be sure I don't have an incompentent cervix. I had preterm labor before (27 weeks) and never found out what went wrong. So I think that's contributing to my worries.
I'm worried my dr won't check anything out and just try to reassure me everything is ok. Well I've been told that before when things weren't okay so I really want them to check me. It's just a lot to ask for in just one appointment so I dont want to seem ridiculous lol. Just had to share my thoughts and fears.
I started my shots on Tues and they didn't hurt at all! The nurse told me most women ice it first, so I did and I barely felt it. I know it's not the same for everyone, but she said usually the women say it's not as bad as they thought it would be. Hope everything goes well for your appt.

I was getting them 3 times a week for 16 weeks so I did a lot of research at this point in pregnancy there no side effects to baby that I have been able to find because all the essential parts of baby are formed. As far as pain sometimes it would hurt like crazy sometimes it wouldn't. My best advice is if you find a side that hurts less use that side as much as possible.
Update: doctor appointment went well. The shot didn't Hurt at all and i didn't even ice it. Then my dr told me that the pains I've been having are normal especially for a second pregnancy. But since im high risk she went ahead and checked my cervix and she said it was firm and felt fine. She said she'll check it about every two weeks.
Baby's heartbeat sounded good although she didn't tell me the heart rate. Then she told me that she doesn't want me walking too much. I got a flu shot, which hurt pretty bad, and then I got my blood taken. I didn't have a uti. I go back Monday formmy ultrasound yay! An then I go back every Friday for my shot. Then I'll see my dr every 2 weeks starting now. Oh she also told me that in a couple weeks she doesn't want me having sex anymore either. I'm fine with that though, my sex drive was at a zero anyways. So now i just wait for the results for my blood test. I think I got it all in there lol
I think I would feel the exact same way, if in your position. I've been blessed with doctors that take all my little fears seriously, and have never brushed anything off without checking in to it, so hopefully yours do the same!
EDIT: Yay! So, I bet you're feeling much better, then! =]
I do feel a lot better it definitely is nice when a doctor takes you seriously. I've had multiple midwives that never took me seriously in the past, not that I'm against midwives but the ones in my town have not done me any favors. Soo happy to have the dr that I have now
I'm on the p17 shots as well. The one I got week before last hurt like heck, bit this last weeks wasn't bad. It wasn't getting the shot itself that hurt so much but the muscle pain the next day. I think a big contributing fa@tor is that the one that hurt was on the same side my sciatic nerve gives me problems.
I'm glad the Dr checked the things u wanted checked! It's always nice to have a Dr that actually listens to you!
