Sigh. First off, I'm fine, the 911 call was not for me or the baby. Just thought I'd say that right away!
So, we went to my dad's side of the family for dinner, my aunt and uncle's. We were planning to make our announcement because they were the last people to tell and I was pretty nervous about it. Finally everyone gets there and we're all gathered in the kitchen waiting for dinner to be ready, but I just could not find the right moment or way to tell everyone! Or either one person was in a different room or someone was talking too loud, or whatever. People offered me wine and I just said I was thirsty for something other than wine at the moment. I kept looking at DH and my mom and we all kept shrugging because we didn't know when to say something! LOL So it's getting closer and closer to dinner time and at that point everyone would be spread out among a few rooms in the house and I wouldn't want to make an announcement then. Just before my aunt said dinner was ready, someone pointed at my grandpa and said he was sleeping in his chair. He sure was, head down asleep in the chair in the middle of all of us. I pointed him out to my mom too and chuckled. Then my aunt asked for someone to say a prayer and we're all bowing our heads and I was even thinking of after we say "amen" that I shout "we're pregnant!" Good thing I didn't. Because just at that moment, grandpa make this weird sound and sort of sneezed/coughed/choked and then projectile vomited and started to seize. Complete chaos at that point, we're all shouting to call 911 and scrambling for phones. My mom is an RN so she went over to him right away and all of a sudden she said she couldn't get a pulse. OMG Is grandpa going to die on Thanksgiving?! Finally a few seconds later he woke up and his pulse came back. So he's finally awake and doesn't remember a thing. Said he just needed a beer LOL Anyway, long story short, the cops and EMT came, sirens a blarin to the house and they took Grandpa to the hospital and my uncle went with. Everyone had calmed down enough to go ahead and have Thanksgiving dinner. I have no idea if we should still everyone our news! I thought I might have to wait till Christmas!
Well later at dessert time, we were all in the kitchen again and I was sitting at the counter while my aunt was dishing out the dessert. I quickly grabbed the first one and then a second one so I had two desserts, two plates. We all started eating and then my aunt said something about how I had grabbed two and was making fun or something, but that's when I said, "Well I'm eating for two!" Complete silence. She stared at me, motionless. LOL Then my other aunt who was behind me said, "are you really?" I said, "YES!" LOL And then people got excited. It all wasn't how I thought it would go, but I'm glad we were still able to share the news so now everyone finally knows! And so far today there isn't any new news on my grandpa. My mom is pretty sure he had a heart attack so we'll see...
