I was a bridesmaid for my friends wedding 3 1/2 years ago. I don't think I will ever be one again, just due to the fact that the dresses are soooooo expensive. I spent $200 on a dress I wore once. The only upside is that I was able to sell it on Craigslist for $80 afterwards.

I was asked to be one a few years back but couldn't because of price.....lucky the other girls had their moms pay for the dresses. I did the photography for the wedding instead.

I've been a bridesmaid a few times too. Last time was in May for my best friend. I probably will be again for my oldest niece, but not sure about anyone else.

Wow, I have never heard of bridesmaids footing the bill for dresses someone else wants them to wear! I paid for my bridesmaid dresses.

I have never been one, and I never would be.

I was a flower girl at my dad's wedding when I was 7.

I have been a bridesmaid once so far. We had to pay for our dresses and then I needed mine majorly altered because I was pregnant with my first. It ended up costing $300 dollars. Thank god my mom bought be shoes cause that was a lot of money for me.

I hope to be a bridesmaid again in the next few years. I have a couple of friends and relatives nearing the alter .

I have never heard of the bride paying for the dresses. Lol. I looked it up, and it is actually considered proper ettique for anyone in the wedding to pay for their own suit/dress/etc..

I think it is awesome though that you paid for yours.

I've been a bridesmaid twice - fortunately both times they were casual weddings so we got to pick out our own dresses (and prices) as long as they were a certain color.

My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses but I managed to find them at an outlet store for $40 so they were pretty pleased about that.

I'm likely not going to be up for anymore. By the end of this year I'll be licensed to perform weddings so i assume I'll be holding that position from now on.

I was a bridesmaid for my sister-in-law seven years ago. My seventh baby was just two months old and my milk supply was totally out of whack. I nursed him before I put the dress on - it fit just fine, by the end of the ceremony, I could not contain *them* any more. It was mortifying.

I have been a bridesmaid a few times, a maid and matron of honor, a flower girl, and a jr. bridesmaid. I will likely be in my youngest sister's wedding in the future, but she is only 18, so that will be a long time in the future I LOVE being in weddings and helping plan the festivities, but they are quite expensive. I have always paid for my dress, most of my friends/relatives whose weddings I have been in have been very conscious about price whe picking them out - I was too, I asked the girls what they were able to pay, some lucked out, the dress I picked was discontinued and the ones that waited until then only ended up paying about $50 for the dress!

I was a bridesmaid in my brothers wedding... at 6 months pregnant. I don't think I'll ever do one again where I have to spend $200 on a dress. I will probably stand up for my best friend in her wedding but I know she will let me wear what I want.

I've been a bridesmaid a few times. One of the times the dress was given to me by the bride, one time my parents paid since it was my sister's wedding and I was in college with no money, one dress was horribly ugly but the wedding was thankfully called off 2 weeks out, so I never wore it. The last time was the only time I had an expensive dress and it is a bit of a pain to buy an expensive dress, travel etc. It adds up quickly.

I picked out very simple black dresses for my bridesmaids. My wedding was very formal and I was still able to find awesome dresses for $70 and every single one of my bridesmaids actually wore the dress again.

Never!
And I don't think I'll ever be.
In Argentina we don't do the bridesmaids ritual/tradition. It's always mom&dad of the bride next to the bride and mom&dad of the groom next to the groom. You can also do dad of the bride and mom of the groom but that's it
And all my friends here are already married

I've been in four weddings (my oldest sister and 3 friends). I still have 3 sisters that aren't married, and my best friend is divorced, so there's a possibility that I could be in another wedding one day.

One wedding I was maid of Honor.
The bride waited until last minute (everywhere was closed) to find a dress. She ended up finding a white pajama nighty dress and wore that lol.
My outfit was also picked out that night.
Casual to say the least.
