Now I'm no doctor, but I feel like my uterus is bigger than it should be right now, considering this is my first child (I'm 13 weeks Sunday). I have a friend who is pregnant also, with her 3rd kid and she's maybe 10-15 lbs smaller than me to start. We have the same dd, but her tummy barely looks any diff than it did before. Mine feels huge. I've been able to feel my uterus since maybe 11 weeks. And my mom says it looks like I'm showing early. At my 8 week appointment my doctor said I measured a little big. But I haven't gone for my 2nd appt yet.

Why would I measure big? And how do I know if I'm actually measuring big? (other than my drs say so)

Received October 8th!

could just be genetics. I carried my first like a hot air balloon I was huge then fast forward 10 years and i carried my daughter the same way. and im pretty sure this one will be the same way. if your doctor is sure about your date It could be bloat or the baby is measuring big .Could also be your body anticipating its natural.

I knew this one lady her baby was practically born at what some 1 year olds weigh i think her girl was 17 lbs out of womb and had to do a c-sec. pretty girl and she didnt have GD just big baby. Though Extremely rare dont want to scare you. There are lots of factors But why compare yourself to other people when everyone carrys different. As long as your happy healthy and you know your doing everything you can to ensure a healthy baby thats all the should matter.

Besides the baby is probably demanding room maybe he or she doesnt like to be squished... Think of it like this the baby is being demanding and high maintenance while it can be

I don't think you should compare yourself to the pregnant mama next to you. Though you may be similar in weight - chances are you carry it differently and your shaped different.

The midwives I know (my own and those that I have doula'ed with) usually don't measure cms to weeks until 20 weeks or so. Before then, the uterus either 'feels pregnant' or doesn't.

It doesn't bother me at all. I know I'm going to get huge anyway. I just worry that something could be wrong, though I know it's unlikely. My doctor didn't say much at my 1st visit about it though. So he must not be worried. Friends/family have been joking about the possibility of us having twins. I doubt it! But it's a cute idea. I'm really starting to feel pregnant the past couple weeks. As my uterus grows, it's become more sensitive. It bothers me to lay on my stomach, it gets sore if I poke it to feel it too much, etc. I guess thats normal, right?

yes, that is completely normal to get more sensitive! And I agree with others, try not to compare yourself with any other pregnant woman, everyone carries differently! My SIL was pg and was ahead of me by 3 months, while she was slightly larger build than me, she carried her baby around her waist, while I carried mine straight out, so I looked a lot bigger than her even being 3 months behind! I didn't look pg from the back, but when I turned sideways, my belly definitely lead the way But, my point is, I agree with everyone, don't compare yourself ot others and don't listen to the other people saying you are big, carrying twins, etc...you could just be bloated or showing earlier than others and people need to learn to keep their mouths shut, especially around pg women
