The ultrasound we had today just posed more questions for us. The doctor couldn't find anything on the screen, just some 'increased' tissue he said. His equipment is from the early 70's, so he is sending me for an ultrasound at the hospital. That's at 6pm. But he said I won't have the results until Monday because the tech isn't allowed to give them to me. My HCG levels are doing what they are supposed to, so the doctor thinks I am either not as far along as we originally thought or his equipment is out dated. Either way, we won't have any idea until Monday. It was an external ultrasound, not a trans vaginal one. I should be 6w6d. I am still spotting a bit of brown, but the doctor didn't seem concerned about that. My bladder was TOO full when the tried to do the ultrasound so I had to release some urine and when I did so in a cup they provided, I passed a blood clot. He tested it to make sure it was just blood and also didn't seem concerned about THAT. Well, I am concerned!!!! What the heck is going on?

I am dying over here....

You could have a really bad bladder infection and that is why you passed a blood clot. I had that happen back in September and it took almost 2 weeks of antibotics to clear it up. And hopefully the hospital will do a pelvic US. In all of my PG's they did the first one was done by pelvic and it gave a clear picture of the baby. I hope that is the case here as well....

I would try and not worry too much about the ultrasound. I'm not surprised that he could see much with an external ultrasound on on old machine. Even with the newer machines they can't see much at this stage with an external.

Did they test you for a UTI?

Thank you Natalie (MrsStuartD) for my Beautiful Siggy!!!

Hang in there, hun. I hope everything is fine, or that it's something not related to the baby and you'll be fine. I'm sure the hospital will get you answers, but I'm sorry you have to wait for them

YAY! We went to the ultrasound appointment that the doctor made and the ultrasound tech did both an external and a transvaginal ultrasound. We could see the sac with the external and we could see the little bean with the trans. We saw (and HEARD) the heart beat! 113 beats a minute. I'm so HAPPY. All that worrying for nothing.

YAY! That's great. And I vote that your OBGYN get some updated equipment! Seriously the 70s? I'm sure most OBGYN practices make enough money a year that they can update the medical equipment as needed so they don't cause undue stress to families!

I agree! I think it goes without saying that I won't be going back to that doctor, not even for my results that I was 'supposed' to receive on Monday. I made an appointment with an up to DATE OB-GYN that I will be seeing on December 20th. Until then, I am going to try not to stress because I know we have a heartbeat and that is step one towards a viable pregnancy. I'm absolutely tickled. I can't wait to be a mommy.

My hubby was grinning from ear to ear when you could hear the thump thump of the heartbeat. I felt so warm and fuzzy inside.

Glad everything turned out fine and you got to hear your baby's heartbeat! That's awesome! And, I agree that your OB needs to update his equipment!
