Another terrible headache tonight. I am used to a more mild headache that gets better when I get sleep, not wakes me from a deep sleep. This is on the same scale as the one I more than a month ago. Urgent care opens at 8am but I am going in at 7am in hopes of getting in with my doctor or someone right away. Very annoying since I just started seeing a physical therapist for the headaches, since it wasn't sooooooo bad but still there. Frustrating.

On a good note I have started to feel Brianna move.... But I am slightly worried that I am feeling here with the terrible headache - I just hope she isn't trying to tell me something and that everything is ok.

My doc says thay are probably hormone related. The surge of preggo hormones.

Short Story: Thanks ladies! You are both right - there isn't much they can do and they think it's just worse than usual because of my hormones. Ugh - the specialist said it may get even worse after I give birth because of the sudden drop in hormones.

More Detail: I spent from 7am-8:45am at urgent care - he refilled something to help me sleep at night. Which helps me at least sort of function and recommended I see a specialist. My local hospital, the one I will be delivering at, has a headache center that works closely with the neurology team. Thankfully for me, someone canceled their appointment for the day so they were able to get me in the same day (I seriously couldn't believe this).

The specialist was really glad I had a CT scan and an MRI within the last 2 years (I had issues with vertigo) that came back totally normal. She was able to shorten what was scheduled for 3 hours to 2 hours. She said that with my history, I have had migraines my entire life but they were left undiagnosed because I was used to them. The hormones from being pregnant have brought these headaches up to an intensity that I couldn't handle treating with OTC meds, so I went in. So I guess sort of it's a blessing in disguise (I'm trying to see the positive side).

Moving forward she wants me to take magnesium 400-600 mg per day - totally safe during pregnancy. If after 2 weeks this doesn't help, she'll put me on a super low dose of something in the class C family of drugs. I don't want to go this route but if it comes down to it I may - she wants to see me again after the baby to talk about other options again. I loved that she wants me to continue with the PT and start doing OT - so she's trying to help with other stuff too and starting with meds on a small level. DH came with me because they asked me to try to bring him even though it was short notice, since some of the medications discussed could effect Brianna (baby). He was really impressed with this doctor for the same reasons - she wanted us to be totally aware of all our options and all the risks plus start small and go bigger if we have to.
