Yesterday, I had a midwife visit; I've been 80% effaced and the baby has been at +1 station for at least a week, but not much dilation (last week, she couldn't get her fingertip through). Yesterday, she forced her fingertip through and swept my membranes. Today, I lost all or part of my mucus plug and am having a lot of pink discharge (but this might also be a combo of the sweep and the primrose oil that she told me to start inserting vaginally at night). I'm also having some contractions that are more frequent and more painful than they have been - but not painful enough to count as real contractions yet.

Keep your fingers crossed! I'm 8 days past due date, and really want to avoid an induction! Hoping the sweep got things started for me!

UPDATE: my water started leaking shortly after I posted!!! So I'm at home now, where I get to stay until I progress into contractions or until 8:30 tonight, when I'll have to go to the hospital to help things along.

UPDATE 2: Contractions coming about 6 minutes apart, over 2 minutes in duration, and rather painful, but I can still talk thru them, so not painful enough to head in to the hospital just yet. I expect that Peanut will be here within 24 hours!

Thanks! I'm still in prelabor, with contractions that feel like bad menstrual cramps coming every 6 minutes, but not increasing in intensity or duration. Keeping in touch with the MW throughout the day, and hoping I move to active labor before my 12-hour window (from time of water breaking) is up! I'm so excited (and scared).

good luck! Don't understand the 12 hour window since it is now accepted to go up to 72 hours with fully ruptured membranes as long as there in no sign of infection, but I suppose you'll do what you think is best.

^ I don't know why the rush. It's just a partial rupture that has been leaking all day, more during contractions. However, things are progressing by themselves, so I'm not too worried about being locked in to a long hospital stay.

That is good! I personally just NEVER want an augmented labor again. I probably would not even call my provider until it had already been about 12 hours after the leak/rupture...lol Then when I got to the hospital just been vague about when it started. As long as you are not GBS+ and don't stick anything in the vagina the risk of infection is very low.
