While I'm in here, thought I'd add another recipe my family loves.
Macaroni and Cheese Pie
2 c. uncooked elbow macaroni
1/3 stick butter (optional)
3 c. milk
1 lb. cheese of choice
1 lb. ground meat, seasoned to taste. (optional)
Cook macaroni till tender. Grate cheese. In large bowl, beat eggs and milk together. Brown and drain meat. Stir together macaroni and butter in casserole dish. Add meat and cheese, stir again. Pour eggs and milk over it all, stir again. Bake for an hour to an hour and 15 min at 350 degrees.
I normally don't add the butter, and it works just as well. We like ours without any meat and extra sharp cheddar. Stronger cheeses work best, anything with lots of flavor. Make sure if you use ground beef to season well. Unseasoned beef can make this dish bland. Enjoy!
