Well, one bite at a time of course!

Which is what I am doing with be de-cluttering and organization. I got the downstairs of the house 'looking decent' before Killian was born, but it was still cluttered and with stuff stashed away. Today I took the first step towards overcoming that. I cleaned and organized the kids' craft cabinet. Next will be a bookshelf we have that is jsut overrun right now. I am going to use the cabinet for adult craft stuff and the shelves for a 'launch pad'

I eventually want an area like this:

But, I don't want to spend money getting all the supplies yet. I will build it over time, the first thing to purchase is hooks for their bags. Then the memo boards and stuff. For now I can use some clip boards i have to hold their weekly homework packets.

So this was today's project:

Before:

After:

Reading this article and clicking around her blog really helped inspire me. Including raiding other areas for containers and tools, like the paper holder and white bin.

It wasn't that bad, but it took longer than I thought it would.

Looks fabulous and I will totally have you over anytime to de-clutter my house! You never know you're a pack rat until you start to clean lol. That set up looks really functional and cute, I think I may try something like that.

Meghan, that looks great! I think my nesting is showing up now that I've had the baby because I couldn't do much before her arrival. Yesterday I sorted and decluttered all of my accessories (jewelry, scarves) and today I'm going to work on filing papers-I got a new expandable folder to use instead of the basket I chuck everything into. That's a great blog-I'm going to check ut out more indepth later.

I like Theimperfecthome.com - she has a 31 day decluttering plan. That at least got me motivated. I've been purging things like crazy. It's amazing what we think we need - and will spend money on, just to have it end up at the bottom of a closet. I also found a daily decluttering calendar online - it gives you one task per day: declutter the medicine chest, linen closet, the car, etc. I can easily do a couple a day. It works out well during baby nap time and helps me feel productive.

Do you have a Target near you? I got some cheap, nice looking storage bins to organize our craft supplies. Cheap is good!

No, we don't have Target. I was checking out their website yesterday, but the free shipping doesn't apply here
