Okay (this may turn into a rant!).... So with DD we used the gdiaper system. I didn't want to use sposies and my boyfriend didn't like the idea of washing poop diapers in the washing machine so these were a nice compromise. We were always really happy with them and she wore them from day one until she potty trained a couple months ago.

When we were ordering these on Amazon subscribe and save with DD, they were about $32 for a case of 160 inserts, so very affordable. Now Amazon is decreasing the S&S discount and gdiapers increased the price of the inserts, so now they are $49 for 160! Not affordable! I looked around at other sites and the prices are pretty much the same. So we decided we'll buy some of the reusable cloth inserts to use at home and use the biodegradable ones when we go out. I was about to order some when I started reading the reviews and most of them say they aren't very absorbent and often leak, especially with heavy wetters (like my Thatcher). They also take a long time to dry and we don't have a dryer right now.

Another reason we decided to go with gdiapers is that we could reuse the pants and liners with our next baby. In early fall, DD was still wearing the mediums and she started leaking all.the.time. I did a quick look online and found that the nylon liners have to be replaced every 100 washes . I bought some new ones and her leaks stopped. The ones we are using now with Thatcher need to be replaced soon as some of them leak (they are the same ones Haidon used).

We were going to stick with gdiapers because buying a whole set of cloth diapers at once would be expensive, but by the time I replace the liners ($20 for 6, I need at least 12) and buy the cloth inserts ($70 for 12 and have poor reviews) and buy 2 more gpants ($25 for a pair) I will spend about $150. Plus I will have to keep a small stockpile of bio inserts for when the cloth ones are all dirty. I found a 12 pack of fuzzi bunz for $200, so now I am thinking of just going that route.

What cloth diapers do you all recommend? Since we'll be spending a lot of money on these, I want something he can wear until he's potty trained. Any tips for CDing as far as washing, drying etc? Know of any good deals? How many CD diapers do you have and how often do you have to wash them? Any other help, advise, please feel free!!!

I like the one size pockets, there are a few different brands out there. We like FB too, but I don't like their OS. We generally use prefolds and covers though, it is the most economical way to CD. My favorite cover is the BlueBerry Coverall, it is great and sizable.

Which brands do you like? What do you dislike about the fuzzi bunz OS?

Flips are a LOT like gdiapers, minus the liners! I could never get gdiapers to not leak. We have the flips covers and use prefolds to stuff them. Zev and Ari can both wear them and we haven't had a leak in them yet. They dry quickly because they are separate pieces.

They are just $14 for each cover, so $168 for 12. Then you could get a dozen prefolds for under $20. They also have disposable inserts that are $6 for 18.

Popping in from April DDC (congrats on the playroom!)...

There is a great cloth diaper forum on here that is active and the people are very friendly and helpful. Just thought I would pass that along.

That is such a bummer and a pain!! I like bumgenius OS diapers personally. They dry fairly fast and work great! I also like rumparooz OS but they run small and are pricier. Just my take! They often times run sales on the Bumgenius so look around!

I know! I barely have time to visit this board though, so I haven't had a chance to wonder over there yet.

It is a huge bummer and pain! I just wish that I would've at least known about these changes before he was born so I could've taken some time to stalk up on CD's instead of having to make a mass purchase on short notice.

This is what I am thinking about going with:
Amazon.com: Bummis Easy Fit Tots Bots One Size Cloth Diaper 6 Pack Gender Neutral Colors with Reusable Dainty Baby Bag Bundle: Baby

The vast majority of the reviews are very good and even the lower rated reviews mention a lot of positives. They are pretty expensive though compared to other CD, but I would be willing to pay more for good quality.

Anyone have these? What do you think of them?

sorry, not familiar with Bummis. We started with prefolds but I found the folding part quite annoying and now that she is more than 10lbs, we're doing great with pocket diapers. We currently have 15 BG 4.0 which fit great, 4 Thirsties Duo Diapers that we use at night (still playing with hemp for inserts since Juliet is a heavy wetter ) and 4 Imagine brand pockets which are still too big for her.

I need more pockets, we get through a day and a half with the 19 that fit her so I'm washing daily with this many. I think if we had another 6/8 we'd be in much better shape.
