So we had our hospital tour today, it was okay, not quite as inspiring and informative as I was imagining it would be but Im still really glad we went. All of the maternity center is really out of view, and it's so much bigger than I pictured but it was nice. We always go to the front of the maternity center to get our ultrasounds, but they are usually pretty early in the day and there is never any activity really. Today there were a lot of families in the waiting area, one family had just had a baby and they were all excited, and we saw one little, big sister walking in with her grandma all dressed up to go see her baby, and there were two babies in the nursery sleeping. Seeing the life of it all was really exciting. They do one room switch so you do labor and deliver in a separate room, but they are still nice rooms just with a little more medical equipment. Every room is private and has lots of tv channels so thats good lol. They deliver about 10 babies a day on average. They have a policy of trying to keep things as calm and quiet as possible and they have a 2 hour "nap time" every afternoon where they try not to disturb mom and baby. You can have 5 people in your labor room although I don't know who would want that many lol. Oh and every day they have a breakfast buffet that you can go to and bring your baby with you and everything. We didn't get to see triage at all because they had 2 women in there, but I guess when it's really time that won't matter so much cause it will all be a blur anyway. And we didn't get to talk to any nurses, which I would have really liked personally, but all in all it was nice to just see everything and have somewhat of an idea what to expect and it makes it all feel that much closer and more real.
