Is anyone else dealing with this, aside from me??

Depression During Pregnancy : American Pregnancy Association

I have known about my depression since October, and it has progressively gotten worse since then. I am crumbling down in January, and have been seriously dealing with it since.
Between talking to a few select friends, my ob, and now a therapist, I am trying to get through til Alyssa arrives. It hasn't been easy, as no medications are able to be of service due to my pregnancy.. I do not like the idea of taking an antidepressant while pregnant, lets put it that way..

I am seriously at the end of my rope, and have no life, motivation, energy in me. Really affecting my relationship with my boyfriend, and now my daughters. I do not like this at all.. I am pulling teeth as every hour passes...

After Alyssa arrives, my wish is to have my life different. Different eating habits, walking, taking meds, and just trying to live life differently.

This pregnancy really has taken my life for a wild ride, and my hormones are really out of play..
Depression bites..

Sorry, Brigitte. Depression does suck (my mom has it pretty bad--dad and I can tell when she's missed one dose of her meds). I have an anxiety problem myself, not so bad that I take meds every day, but I have them for when I need them (not taking them during pregnancy, and have been very fortunate to not feel much need).

Why wait to start walking and changing your eating habits? No time like the present, and they'll benefit your baby too. Also, make sure you're getting enough B vitamins and iron. Both help with fatigue (motivation) and B vitamins can help with anxiety/depression. Talk to your boyfriend and daughters. Tell them you need their help. They can take turns walking with you so that you get a daily walk (they will motivate you, and it could be good bonding time). And make sure your boyfriend and doctor know the signs of post-partum depression so they can keep an eye out for you. (I told DH and my midwife to watch me for it, as my mom had it so bad.)

Hugs.

I've never dealt with any depression but I hpe that it gets under control for you and you start to feel better, especially after your daughter is here.

So sorry u are dealing with depression! A really close friend of mine ended up with depression and anxiety after her first child was born..it was a struggle for her for 6 years! I tried to help her in any way I could but nothing was helping. She did meds, EVERY kind available...diet and exercise changes, therapy, natural therapy...anything she could. Her dad suggested that she go and see a well know doctor for hypnosis and today she is happy and med free! She was really sceptical and even felt weird telling me about it..but it worked for her!

I had depression for the first trimester and it was not fun. I just kept going through the motions, a sort of fake it till you make it thing. Right now, I am a bit down, because of a recent family death, but no depression. Also, having the sun come out last week really helped. Just getting outside helped lift my spirits.
