Well hubby and I recently purchased our first home...closing was March 30th but we are not fully moving in until April 22 as we are doing some renovations and painting the house.

Today we bought a new kitchen from IKEA....even though i didnt like the fact you have to put it together yourself etc...hubby wanted to get it from them.

My question is have you or do you know someone who has had a IKEA kitchen installed and what do they think of it? Was it a pain in the *** to put together? Is it cheap made? I am sooo worried that we wasted our money today. When we checked out and i seen the total .,.....I nearly fainted lololol

My good friend Antje had one put in. I'm pretty sure someone installed it for her - but she was also near retirement age so that might have been a convenience thing. They've had it now for about 10 years - still looks great and is functional

If the DH is handy, I think you'll be OK

From what I have heard through the design industry is that they are decent quality, but the drawback is no delivery and you need to put them together yourself. Exciting about getting a new kitchen! We are gearing up to remodel our kitchen and I am seriously dragging my feet. We did a kitchen remodel with our 1st home and I keep thinking about it and putting off starting the remodel. LOL

EVerytime i buy IKEA product ....while i'm putting it together i always curse at how i'll never ever buy from IKEA again.....lol SOmehow i always end up back there to look around.

I love being a homeowner even though we are not living in the house yet .....I am back and forth getting things ready. Did i mention how much i hate moving Cant wait till we are settled in so i can really enjoy it.

i LOVE IKEA!!! of course the closest one is a little over 3 hours away...i love going there. I can seriously spend all day in that dang store but yes the draw back is putting everything together. I havent purchased any big ticket items, just bookcases, storage drawers and such but from what i have purchased the quality seems to be good. I cant imagine installing a new kitchen but I have seen what they look like and they are pretty nice!! Post some pics...i would love to see. Oh and congrats on the new home! Big year for you Kim....exciting all around!
