OMG I totally wasn't thinking and ate some queso fresco on my tacos tonight. It says on the package pasteurized but everything online says queso fresco is not and its one to avoid while pregnant. SHOOOOOT! Now I'm going to be a hot mess stressing about Listeria!

Dont stress too much. My Dr told me its really only if the cheese got warm. If it was still cold you should be fine.

Now that you mention it I had a chicken taco today and it had cheddar cheese on it. Would that be considered soft cheese?

I don't think after just one time you have to worry about it too much. I think the main thing is to just not eat it on a regular basis. I'm still trying to figure out all things you can or can't have during pregnancy. There's just another thing to worry about! haha

The no-no list is so long and it's so easy to make a mistake! Don't feel bad in the least! My old dr with my other pregnancies told me that if it's made in America, it's usually safe so stay away from those delicious French cheeses. This isn't always the case though - there is a woman who sells the most amazing cheese at the farmers market, but all her cheese is from raw milk!

You will drive yourself crazy with all of the "don't have" lists. What you had is fine.....once it has been heated bacteria is killed.

I thus far have eaten the following allegedly no-no foods:

1 slice of hard salami (couldn't resist)
a bite of bologna (ditto)
goat cheese (pasteurized)

And of course, my daily cup of coffee. So far, my uterus has yet to spontaneously combust.
