Today we had our first ultrasound at nine weeks. Adam and I were both so scared because with both of our previous pregnancies we'd seen babies and heard heartbeats at 6.5 weeks and then ended up losing them. We didn't know it right away, but based on their sizes we were told that we'd lost them between 8 and 9 weeks. So this time we decided to wait a little longer and hopefully we'd see something we hadn't before.
And we did!! We saw a beautiful little fetus that measured 3 days ahead, had a wonderful strong heartbeat of 171 bpm and was waving it's little gummy arms and legs at us! It was the most wonderful thing ever! I lay there and cried while I held Adam's hand and we watched our little bean wave at us. We saw everything, the perfect baby, the yolk sac, the umbilical cord, the membrane of the amniotic sac... all the things that we'd never seen before! We're both ecstatically happy!
My mom has decided that she's going to call the baby Bertram until we have an actual name and my sister has decided that's a great idea... so baby will probably be Bertie for a little while! I'm still feeling very much like it's a boy, but my mom felt that way the whole time she was carrying me and guess what?
That is such an awesome picture. Amazing to see the development already. I didnt make it as far as to see anything like that before either.
I really hope I can have another US at 10 weeks-ish to see something like a gummy bear.
Thank you *JMC1988* for the perfect siggy
