At the time 4 yrs about it was rated as one of the best on consumer reports for the size of area the room was. We lived in an old apartment with an old furnace and we at first couldn't figure out why DS was always so congested at night and he wouldn't sleep well because he couldn't breath. The pediatritian kept telling me that it must be viral but after going on for 10 wks I questioned it. He would get better during the day and worse at night (when we were back home and layed him down) so I finally randomly was telling the story again in the doctors lounge at my hospital and finally had an anethesiologist tell me that it sounded like what he had when he was a child and it was dust mite allergies. We went home that night and washed all his bedding in the hottest water we could, bought an expensive allergen vaccum bag and spent an hour vaccuming the room meticulously, took a dust rag to every tiny crevice and then bought this air purifier and turned it on high for a few hours before we put him in his room and then had it on low while he was sleeping. we also bought a really expensive allergen filter for the furnace and the night we did that is the first night he slept through the night so all the money we put into it really paid off.
