Ok... so I'm brand new to this whole pregnancy thing. When I went to the doctors on Tuesday, she asked if I had felt the baby move. I haven't, so I said no. She said I should feel it move by the next appointment. My question for all of you is...

What do flutters feel like? Is is subtle? Or will I know its the baby?

I've only felt it a couple of times. Sometimes it felt like someone lightly brushing their finger across my skin, except from the inside. The other times it felt like a little tap from the inside. I have to be still to notice it. The baby isn't big or strong enough for me to feel it while moving around yet.

The movements are usually really subtle & unless you are being still you might miss them.

I only feel the movements when I am sitting still or laying down and not focusing on anything else. Is it normal that I felt the movements 2-3 times per day for a few days but not at all today yet? Is it too early to worry about regular movements?

It is definitely too early to worry about regular movement... since the baby is still so tiny he/she might be moving in a spot you can't feel. I think they worry about regular movement beginning at like 24 weeks...

From what I hear you shouldn't worry about regular movements until you're 20 something weeks and the baby is strong enough for you to feel it even while moving.

Some people say it feels like tiny little, subtle popcorn popping in your tummy.
The best way I have heard it described and how it feels for me is: imagine there is a butterfly in your tummy and it's wings are brushing against the inside of your uterus very lightly! Sounds weird, but it's true!

It's very subtle and many people probably mistake gas for baby!

Don't be worried if you don't feel it! It is very common for first timers to not feel it because they can't place the sensation! With my first two I had an anterior placenta, plus with being a first time mom, I never felt ANYTHING til the strong kicks around 22-24 weeks!

This is my 11th baby and I still have a hard time feeling the first movements. I'm pretty sure I have felt the baby a couple of times now. I felt like a swoosh to me. I felt it and thought, was that the baby? I'm never really totally sure until the movement is stronger.

For me it's hard to describe. But trust me you'll know it when you feel it!!! But I agree with some of the other ladies about not really worrying about it until 20+ wks when you have to keep count and make sure you feel around the same amount of movements on a daily basis.

To me it feels like a light brushing of fingers. It is really hard to notice it unless I am completely still. With my first, I didn't really notice it or realize it until probably 18 weeks.

It's hard to feel sometimes, and like the other ladies have said, you usually notice while you're sitting still or lying down in bed.

I got lucky with my first and started feeling her at 14 weeks. I would feel her off an on on various days. It didn't get consistent for quite a few weeks. I've been feeling this one for a few weeks now too, although it's usually 5 days a week or so...not every day yet.

A lot of my friends didn't feel their firsts until 20 weeks or beyond. It also has nothing to do with the size of your body or tummy, because it's an internal feeling. I know a lot of women think you don't feel as much if you're bigger (not saying you are, just an example, lol!). It's so different with every woman and every pregnancy.

You may not start feeling baby for 4 more weeks, and try not to stress. You WILL know when you're feeling baby.

Just this past week I have felt 2x a kind of tap. With my 4th child it felt like a butterfly real light.

I wouldn't worry about not feeling baby yet for your first. I didn't feel DD for sure 100% until 20 weeks or so..looking back on it I sure I felt her move about 17weeks but it was so hard to tell.

To me it feels like when you catch a cricket in your hand. Sometimes you can feel it real light like when the cricket is just walking around. Then sometimes it will feel like when a cricket jumps in your hand.
