so my gums have been really tender and red for the last month or more but i heard it was pretty common in pregnancy because of increased blood flow. which made sense because iv only even had nosebleeds since Iv been pregnant an i have them every other day now so i figured I just have super high blood flow all of a sudden. pluse I had never had gum problems before. so I wrote it off.

well for the last week my gums have gotten super swollen and bleed when I brush i honestly just started skipping flossing because it hurts to much and certain foods like toast or chips because when I chew them they stab my gums and make my mouth bleed.

everywhere I look up says this isnt uncommon and persists through the 8th month of pregnancy if it occurs because its due to hormones. there is long lists of lots of calcium and vitamin C is known to help prevent this and don't forget to brush your teeth but absolutely nothing on how to fix it if it happens it basically just seems to say wait until your done being pregnant and it will go away actually 2 of the site said exactly that ok maby a little more professionally but same point. So thats what I was doing.

Then I woke up this morning and the back of my gums were so swollen they have risen up above and then spilled on top of my back teeth so I cant actually close my jaw all the way because my gums are in between my top and bottom teeth. plus they hurt consistently like Im sitting here typing and my whole mouth is throbbing. this sucks I dont know what to do I tried calling a local dentist but there all closed for some god unknown reason. my boyfriend said gargling saltwater is supposed to help but it burns like a mother bleepdy bleep and made me start bleeding agin. I took a tylenol but it has done nothing and my doc has already told me Im not allowed to take extras or any other pain killer.

I would go to the dentist. My gums bleed now when I brush and floss but its not painful. The sweeling would be the thing that would make me want to see a dentist. Make sure there isin't something else going on.

The dentists are probably closed today because it's Memorial Day, but I agree that you should definitely be seen... What you are experiencing does not sound normal to me... I hope you get seen quickly!

Yep definetly get to a dentist. None will be open today, unless you have an emergency care place by you.

Definitely try to get in tomorrow! How it started sounded like a common issue in pregnancy, but it has gotten extreme. I hope you are able to see someone and feel better quickly!

Pregnancy can bring on temporary gingivitis, but I agree that you should be seen by a dentist. I had bleeding early on from my gums. I also have braces which made it worse. But the bleeding has mostly stopped now and I only get a bit of pink every now and then when I brush my teeth. Not being able to floss is going to make the problem worse.
