I woke up for no apparent reason, or did I?

As I was looking at the ceiling, I see this lovely spider start to rappel downwards onto my bed! I flipped on my light and jumped up, and it must've sensed me because it climbed back up to the ceiling! I ran out and got a bottle of rubbing alcohol thats in a sprayer and a huge wad of paper towels. (Just in case you didn't know, and you're thinking I'm weird for grabbing a spray bottle full of rubbing alcohol, it kills bugs pretty much on contact. I recommend a bottle for every household.) Mind you, I have a severe case of arachnophobia. I always make other people kill them. But seeing as its 4am, no one is awake.

So I come back in the room and all of a sudden, the spider jumps off the ceiling and is gone. It could be in the bed, or on the floor... I have no idea. But I know I can't go back to bed with an alive spider in my room! Especially one that tried to attack me in my sleep! I walked around the bed and sprayed the floor and lamp really well. Then i flipped back my covers and looked. So far... nothing. I grabbed the corner of the pillow on the opposite side of the bed and yanked it over. Still nothing. So I sprayed the other end of the bed thinking the **** spider might've blended in with my black sheets (never will I buy black sheets again for this reason!)... nothing! I decided to tug on the pillow I already moved another time, and as I did I just see a little ball of black scamper across my bed, on my side, where I sleep! So I started spraying like crazy and eventually killed the little jerk.

I had to move it with a paper towel, and as I did I had thoughts of it coming back to life. But alas, it stayed dead. I am now sitting on a towel because my side of the bed is drenched in rubbing alcohol and I keep looking all around the room because I feel like he was just the scout for the troops. I fully remade the bed and I am happy to report that there are no little buggers hiding out in the bedding!

I'm waiting for my exhaustion to over power my fear of more spiders lurking.I know I'm crazy, but thats what happens with arachnophobia.

The End!

Lol! I hate spiders. Especially the fast black ones we have here in the house. They run across the floor so fast, it really creeps me out. DH wants to spead Diazonon (however you spell that) around the outside of the house, but I don't like using poison with the kiddo around. Never knew about the rubbing alcohol.

Thank you for your story. It still has me laughing. My daughter is the same way and her husband is no good at killing the spiders either. They have a terrible time when a spider is in the house. I will have to teach the two year old how to kill spiders and he can be the man of the house. Good job on tracking that pesky spider and getting rid of him. Also, thanks for the tip about the rubbing alcohol, I will have to tell her. I just use the vaccuum and get rid of them that way.

I don't like spiders on me but I'm not scared of them. Now a mouse is a totally different story! We had one in our room one night when dh worked a 3rd shift and I didn't sleep in there! I am terrified of them and I know its silly but I can not help it!

Lol, I don't mind spiders, well as long as they aren't in my room, but centipedes freak me out and we get them a lot in our basement!

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one with a spider fear!!! Last year we had a giant wolf spider in our apartment. When I walked out of the bedroom in the morning it ran out under my feet! I wasn't going to kill it! So what did I do? I trapped it! Haha! My husband didn't believe me about how big it was -- the thing had a 2-inch long body, plus horrible legs -- and when he got home he was shocked that it was HUGE! He used Scrubbing Bubbles that time lol Then he took pictures of his kill. It was a proud moment for him.

I didn't know about the rubbing alcohol either. Good tip. I hate spiders too. When we first moved into our house the basement seemed full of them. Somehow the old owners had not fully sealed a pipe and they were coming in from the garden. I would not go down there for months until DH sealed the pipe, cleaned out the entire area and killed them. We see about one a month now which isn't too bad. Plus I had taught the puppy to eat them and other bugs as soon as he sees them. He is my new bug killer. Just licks them right up!

You're not gonna believe this...

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!! Not in the same exact way. Thank goodness! But this time I found 3 (!!!!!!!!!) spiders and giant ants. I learned that the ants don't die right away with the rubbing alcohol and the spider with the clearish looking legs that almost looks like it has balls for feet? Yeah, that one will resist till the bitter end.

I think my room in infested, and I have no idea where these jerks are coming from. I'm officially fed up. Time to go sleep on the couch tonight

Just be careful! Rubbing alcohol can cause blindness. Great tip though, I had no idea it killed them!
