I've been heating them and eating them. Mostly turkey, but that is all that appeals to me. I ate at least one cold sandwhich while I was pregnant with my first - but, I do try to follow the rules on this one for some reason.
I really enjoy a good sandwhich - and actually crave them! I wish I wasn't so strict on myself!

I don't really eat lunch meat when I'm not prego, so I sure don't crave it. It's so processed, that the idea of it is sort of repulsive lol. I'm not saying I've ever eaten it, but there are alternatives. If I go to subway, I get a veggie patty. At home, I enjoy grilled cheese and veggies or use meat left over from dinner.
I like rolling cheese up in ham slices and microwaving it till the cheese melts but thats about all. The only lunch meats I actually ate on sandwiches before was hard salami and that tastes disgusting heated up so no actual sandwiches for me.
although I always wondered if hard salami even counted considering its not made like ham turkey ect so it may not even have anything wrong with it but I cant find an answer to that so Im staying away for now.
I don't eat that much lunch meat, but when I do, I heat it up. Like today, they catered sandwiches at work and I nuked it before eating it.
Listeria is very rare and chances are you have nothing to worry about, but I actually do know a woman who lost her baby 3 days before her due date after getting it from a sandwich. Please know - I am NOT trying to scare anyone. Like I said, it is VERY rare. But since I know of a real life occurance of this happening, I am very paranoid about it.
I went 9 months without when I was pg with my first, and even now, 4 years later I feel like I'm still making up for the 9 months without!! I had DH immediately fo get me a Panera sandwich after I delivered I love turkey sandwiches, and always use the kind of turkey without nitrates. I do sometimes heat, sometimes not. Today I had a hot ham and cheese on a pretzel roll, and it was DELICIOUS!!!! No guilt since it was heated, lol. I did read that the greatest risk is in the third trimester, so I will probably cut back then.
