Hey ladies, I am not sure if any of you have ever or currently work in law, but I thought it was worth a shot to ask since there is nowhere for me to turn. Here is the background of my situation.

I was a victim of work place sexual assault for about a year. The person held a high position in the federal government. I am just a contractor. I never said anything since I was terrified of losing my job or having it come back to bite me. Any way the guy left to Washington for almost a year for training and became an even higher level in the government agency. Another woman (she was government) filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him. Apparently the agency dismissed the allegations against him so she ended up suing. Nobody believed her so I came forward to defend her. Since then, I've been moved from my office to a different part of the building. I had to relieve it all. I had to speak with lawyers from EEO and had to speak with investigators from IA. It was extremely stressful and a few months of having to deal with it I was diagnosed with Crohns. The woman won her suit and thanked me so much for coming forward. Nothing else happened.

Then today I received an email from an individual who is an attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel who wants to speak with me about the allegations. Basically my question is do I HAVE to go through this again? Do I legally have to speak with him? I do not work for the agency that is once again being sued. I am pregnant and do not want to have a flare of my disease. Just thinking about this is making me want to cry. It was supposed to be over and done with. I knew there was a reason why I never wanted to come forward. A part of me wishes I never had...

I don't know if you have a legal obligation, but I think you have a moral one.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

Unless you are subpoenaed, you don't have to say anything.

I agree that you shouldn't have to.. and I know its tough.. I've kept my abuse secret because I didnt want to live through it.. when a girl went to the cops, the cops also asked me if I'd experienced anything either.. and I lied and said no because I didnt want anyone to know.. I was 12 at the time tho.. I wish now that I would've said something, because who knows who else he's done it to... maybe he could've gone to jail if I would've stepped up..

Can you clarify the details?
You were sexually assaulted for a year? And the lady won her lawsuit because you came forward but no legal charges have been pressed by the police? What did she win in her lawsuit? The company is being sued again because of the same guy so he still works there?

I sent an email explaining that I was under no legal obligation at this point to continue to discuss the matter. The attorney emailed me back and clarified the situation. The guy was transfered to New Orleans and he his appealing the decision of the agency and wants to transfer back to the sothern california area. He just wants to send over my statements from EEO and IA and sign. There will be no trial or interview. I told him I could do that. Thanks ladies for your advice and support!
