When Hayden first came home from the hospital until she was 2 weeks, she slept 2-4 hours. One day, right around dinner time she slept for 5 hours, I woke her up to eat because I didn't want her to be up all night. Well that night, she cried for hours. And around 4 am we all got to sleep. Since then she will sleep for 5 min by herself, if I'm lucky. Usually she will wake up as soon as i lay her in her own bed, no matter how careful I am not to wake her. So for weeks I have just slept with her in my arms while she nurses. Well it's wearing on my body. My hips are starting to hurt. And she's getting bad acne from having milk dry on her face all night.

Last night I fell asleep nursing her. She woke me up a few hours later, I switched sides and we laid sideways while she nursed. I woke up 20 min later and she was sleeping. So i pulled her off and she was still sleeping on my bed. So I kept her there. She slept like that for a little while, so after I changed her we did the samething on the other side again and she fell asleep so I let her sleep on the bed. Then she wake me up at 7 am to eat. I was shocked she slept so good since she wasn't sleeping without nursing or being held for so long. Well today she started bad again....but this early evening she slept alone for 20 min. And then I fed her when she woke up and she went back to bed. I put her in her bed and now she's been asleep for almost two hours!!

Is she getting back on a sleep schedule or is this just a fluke? I love holding her but i have animals to take care of and other household stuff and my husband is gone. So please keep your fingers crossed she's getting back on track!

When Damon was a newborn he would only sleep on me. I trained myself to sleep on my back with him on my chest. I didn't move at all. I don't know how in the world I did it. I could never trust myself to not move in my sleep now. But I guess if I ever wanted to sleep I had no choice. I was a single mom so I had no help. Eventually I got him to sleep next to me. We did that until he started moving around too much. He then transitioned to his crib no problem.

So a very clingy baby can eventually sleep elsewhere hopefully she will do it soon.

During the day if Archer falls asleep on me and I go to lay him down he wakes right up. So he doesn't sleep much during the day.

Thanks PrincessMom08 for my wonderful siggy!

Thats what she does. The first two weeks she only slept in her bed. So she went from being alone to being super clingy and maybe back to sleeping alone now.

I hope it continues. We go through that alot also. Jacob falls asleep in my arms and as soon as I put him down he starts crying. He just wants to be held all the time.

Thank you *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy

I think they go through phases. Some nights Ember will sleep just fine in her bed, some nights she won't sleep much at all unless she's nursing or in my arms. I'm sure there are different factors that play in. I hope she continues to sleep well on her own for you!
